“Tasty meal for weary travelers”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 22, 2011

We made the wrong turn and ended up at the Halfway house. They were sold out of rooms but helped us find a nearby hotel. They were very kind and kept the kitchen open. Our dinner was delicious…A lovely lasagna, and a tasty steak pie…

The staff was helpful and welcoming

What a lovely experience my partner and I had at the Halfway House Hotel. We arrived in the early evening to be greeted by a very polite man behind the reception desk. The checking in process was very welcoming and efficient. Our room was clean, tidy, neat and seemed to have been recently redecorated in a modern yet chique manner. We ate in the restaurant and I have to say the food was first class. Again when we arrived in the restaurant we were given a warm welcome. After our meal we retired to the bar area and chatted with the local until the wee hours. When we departed the next day the same gentleman checked us out and could not have been any more helpful (ordering a taxi) and polite. Overall a fantastic experience and one which I would highly recommend. Thank you to all at the Hallfway House Hotel

We booked a 1 night stay at The Halfway House Hotel in May, such a lovely family friendly hotel that we decided to extend our stay for another couple of nights. The hotel is only a few minutes away from Dunfermline & M90 motorway in the village of Kingseat.
On check in we were greeted by a very friendly receptionist, whom was very helpful. We booked a family room for ourselves & our 2 children, the room that we were given looked like it had been newly refurbished, decor was lovely throughout the room. Very comfortable, with flatscreen tv, tea/coffee facilities & gorgeous finishing touches on the beds with runners & cushions.
The hotel offers a lounge area for dining, another lounge area with pool & darts & flatscreen tv which the children can use through the day & there was even an enclosed childrens play area outside at the rear of the hotel which was a god send for the children.
The lounge serves food all day, great for families with young children who want to eat early. Portion sizes were amazing - great value for money, even the kids meals were huge! Good choice aswell.
Full cooked scottish breakfast in the morning was freshly prepared apposed to buffet style, only complaint was there was no fresh fruit for me to have instead of a fry up!

All in all this hotel was perfect for us, you can come & go as you please & nothing is too much trouble for the staff. We will definately be back.

on arrival we were greeted by a rather unfriendly guy at reception (not sure off his name but had red dye put through his hair)myself and husband and child stayed in room 205...the smell off food from the kitchen wafting through the corridors and into our room was disgusting...upon entering our room i went to open the window and there was a big crack down it also there was no bedside cabinets at all in the room there was also a hole in the wall that had newspaper stuffed in it.....the toilet was leaning over to the side a bit for some reason which i thought was most odd.....we had no idea when breakfast was because my cheery on reception failed too inform us ..i went down too reception in the morning too ask but could only find the cleaner who kindly let me know...breakfast was a very basic full english..afterwards i took my child out too the play aera and was disgusted too find that the main entrance outside was awash with ciggarette douts ..we payed £75 for 1 nights stay and can honestly say i would NEVER EVER return again

We were attending a wedding function. We had a double roon that was lovely- just newly refurbished. It was very comfortable. The hotel has a great atmosphere and staff provide a welcoming , friendly service. We had evening snacks/ lite bites on arrival before the function which were fantastic. The wedding was great and the Breakfast in the morning was 1st class. Great value for money

this hotel is dirty smelly and for a so called family room, i've seen bigger rabbit hutches. the smell from the kitchen to the room is horrific. the room didnt smell any better it was dirty and for a family room very cramped at less than 7ft sq. taps and shower didnt work and i would not even let my dogs stay in such a terrible place. we paid the money but did not stay we found a clean and larger room in a different local hotel
