This is one of the hotels I would never go again. We selected this hotel from the web pictures. They are totally misleading. The hotel has a very bad view, it looks in some ugly buildings, terraces full with TV antennas, etc. The hotel itself is quite dirty, killed flies stayed on the window for 4 days. Finally, the hotel is very noisy from the street. The hotel owners pretend to be friendly, when in fact do not really care about their guests. Simply avoid it.

We had made a reservation around the 15th of August for three days. We had been in Archangelos a few years ago and we liked the serenity of this small hamlet of fishermen, that developed during the last 15 years into a small tourist resort.

In fact, the locals are very few, besides they live in the village some 10 kms uphill. The village consists mostly of touristic properties i.e hotels and mainly apartments for rent. The place is ideal for families with small children, since there is practically no traffic besides the cars of the residents and for mature couples who enjoy swimming, small walks and touring in the region. Definitely, not for the younder generation that loves buzz and night life. The local entertainment consists of two adjacent restaurants, a small bar 20 meters away and a small variety shop. Villagers come daily with their trucks to sell fruit and vegetables, sometimes also cheese and honey. For newspapers and other supplies tourists go to the nearby villages.

As for the hotel it's clean, with a beautiful little garden at the entrace, but oldish. The rooms cannot be smaller and the furniture dates back to the late seventies, tasteless, colourless, without character. Our room looked in the back yard that serves as parking lot and there was not much to see except other apartment houses in the foreground. There is no soundproofing in the rooms and the linen is at least "tired", there is an old tv and airco in the room. As the place is very small and quiet, people talking (rather shouting) in the street, late at night or early in the morning, get you up without much fuss.,, Anyhow, around midnight the place is quiet and you can go to sleep.

The hotel consists only of rooms and a small office, no sitting area, no tv room, no breakfast room.

The hotel is right on the main street!! (eyphemism for less than 60 meters of street) that overlooks the sea. The hotel owners are also the owners of one of the two restaurants of the village. Breakfast is served in the restaurant right above the sea, this is lovely to seat in the shade in the morning and sip your coffee while watching the fishermen bringing the fish to the tavern next door. The hotel restaurant offers only the basic greek fare, nothing much intriguing, while the other restaurant specialises in fish and was full every night. As for the breakfast, it is the uninspired kind of coffee, two slices of bread, cheap plastic doses of butter and marmelade and canned orange juice.Indeed, you may order an omelette or cheese at extra price.

The long sandy beach is very clean and protected from winds. In the area there are several other beautiful beaches in the nearby villages. All in all, we like to spend a few days in Archangelos when we are in the region, but for spending a whole vacation we would need something more than a plain bed.

In conclusion, the price tag of 130 euros per night spent in this hotel was money thrown out of the window, since we have found in the village brand new spacious apartments, fully equipped, with large balconies and nice view to the sea, at only 40-60euros per night. We have noted addresses for next year.

a strange place, as others have commented it is isolated, but busy enough little harbour and beach is nice. The staff sit outside and stare at you when you arrive and no one offers to help. The hotel is VERY overpriced, the rooms are drab and dirty, the lady owner is not at all friendly and often abrupt. We ate at the resaurant as one does on the first night and had a very bad xperience...service was terribly slow, portions minute and most food over-cooked, although the souvlaki was raw at the ends as a previous reviewer mentioned. My husband and I left most untouched. There was one pretty waitress who tried so hard but we saw her being told off by the owner. Prices for the food were the dearest we have paid outside Athens. we noticed the neighbouring restaurant was full so went there the next night, much better. The hotel and restaurant are run-down and have seen better days. Nearby Neapolis is a much better destination.

  • Liked — The nice little beach wth blue flag rating and good bar on the square

Me and my wife stayed for 2 nights early July. Archaggelos is a very-very small village, ideal to relax for a few days. But not for longer time since there are only 2 restaurants,2 coffee shops and one small market in the village and one tiny small but clean beach. The Hotel is definately OVER-OVER priced. We payed 70 Euros / night without breakfast, the rooms are small and old, the bathroom very small, the veranda small and dirty, everything is there probably since they started running this hotel. Now if you add to this the "not something special" for a location, you have the summry of this review.

My mum and I stayed at the Palazzo for four nights and thoroughly enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and spacious and the front ones have a balcony overlooking the town square. There is a big terrace with tables and pretty plants where you can read or sit with a glass of wine. We ate every day at the taverna beside the water and really enjoyed the food. It was a treat to have proper expresso too, not just greek coffee! The garden is beautiful and the owner is a delight, an elegant hard working lady who is so warm and helpful, with perfect english. The town is small and quiet, but what a great place to unwind, we will return!

  • Liked — Friendly and hospitable owner, beautiful location
  • Disliked — Sharing a room with my mother...she snores!
