“Best Hotel on the Island”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 18, 2013

We stayed here for 4 nights on our honeymoon in a Lagoon Bungalow. The hotel was beautiful and the service was amazing. We loved our bungalow because it was the last one on their beautiful white sand beach and still over the water, but much more private than the overwater bungalows (which costs more too)! The bungalows were huge and modern. There was a glass bottom coffee table so we could watch the fish swim below. We swam and snorkeled everyday off our pier, seeing tons of fish (especially flute fish) and even a large stingray. This hotel had lots of extra touches. We brought our Bose Soundlink, but the rooms already had iPod players. They bring you a drink and cool washcloth when you check in. The staff brought over complimentary chilled wine with a note welcoming us for our honeymoon. The breakfast buffet was included in our package and was DELICIOUS! We have traveled a lot and we still talk about how great the breakfast was here. Anything and everything you can think of they had including American, Polynesian, and French food. We loved the omelet station! And the view from the restaurant overlooked the beautiful lagoon. The staff at the hotel helped us arrange dinner reservations, pearl shopping, and excursions including their ATV tour which was so fun we decided to rent a scooter the next day and drive all over the island to explore on our own (a must!). We also did a candlelit dinner on the beach that was so romantic and delicious (best veal we're ever had!). Also you have to eat at the crepe bar in the center of the overwater bungalows. We did entrée and desert crepes and both were delicious. When we drove around we looked at other hotels and I can firmly say the Hilton is the best on the island. We will definitely return for a future anniversary and stay here again!

Room Tip: Lagoon Bungalow #53 has the most privacy, is just like the overwater bungalows, but cheaper because...

We spent 4 nights here on our weddingmoon before heading to St Regis Bora Bora for 4 nights and our wedding.

Highlights.

The majority of staff were very friendly and helpful, always greeting us as we passed and spoke good English which made things alot Easier. The crepe bar was outstanding, we ate there twice and loved it both times. Whilst we didnt so much enjoy the food at the Polynesian night the show was outstanding, especially in torrential rain. Our bungalow (64) was very nice, we had no issues with privacy or noise even though it was reasonably close to the crepe bar. The water depth/snorkelling from right outside your bungalow is outstanding(Probably the one thing better than bora bora) Main restaurant service and food was amazing. The bar and grill was great, we ate here and had a beer everyday for lunch, the complimentary home made chips are great! The included breakfast had good variety and i had no problem finding enough things to fill my plate. The quality wasn't top notch though ie the bacon and eggs were quite similar to what i once experienced at an American mess at Kuwait Air base, still more than edible though. The spa was great, so relaxing i fell asleep during my massage!

The bad.

There were a couple of staff that were rude to us and others in general for no apparent reason. They just didnt seem to like their job. It was definately the exception to the rule but enough to slightly tarnish the stay. The toilets everywhere including our room blocked very easily which was unpleasant(though quickly rectified on request). The aircon and stereo didnt work in the gym which made it pretty tough to push through in the heat.

Overall we had a great time and the resort is absolutely beautiful. The food in general was amazing. There were just enough little things to take the polish off an otherwise great experience. We wouldnt rule out staying again but would definately consider our options if staying in Moorea again

Our first trip to Tahiti we stayed 3 days in Moorea and 3 days in Bora Bora both at Hilton properties, The Moorea property was excellent, The properties on the islands are not as large as some other locations but that's nice. You are staying with hundreds of guests not thousands. Be prepared to do most everything on the resort, there are excursions but EVERYTHING is very expensive so stock up on liquor at the duty free store in the departing airport, you'll save a bundle. Also buy some groceries, snacks drinks when you get there in town, which isn't that easy to do since getting around the island is a bit costly.
Having said all that please don't think we didn't enjoy are self's it is with out a doubt one of the most beautiful places anywhere (exceeded by only Bora Bora) just my opinion. Also try to get a food plan, we only had breakfast included and that helped with the cost a lot.
People are great, snorkeling is unbelievable. We stayed in a garden bungalow with our on pool very nice accommodations.

We spent 5 nights here for our honeymoon, it was amazing!!!

We stayed in an overwater bungalow, and it was everything we imagined plus more, so beautiful! The room was good size, great big comfy bed, nice bath, tv, there's a deck for reading/relaxing. Then the lower deck with a shower after swimming. The room was very clean. The view was spectacular, we faced the island, which was fine, the water is so blue/clear, I loved looking at the fish/rays. The rooms were more private than I imagined too, you don't even really realize you have neighbors 15m away.

Reception were very welcoming and very helpful for tours we booked, all the staff were so polite too.

Food was great. We had breakfast included, which was a buffet, was great, highly recommend the omelets. first night we ate at the restaurant - very good. Then we had the Tahitian experience, food cooked their way in n oven type thing in the ground, I appreciated the idea and it was interesting but I really disliked their food! Was very smoky mostly, or raw, good variety but not my thing. The crepe bar is delicious. Then we spoilt ourselves & had a romantic dinner on the beach, food cooked on a grill next to us, it was so yummy and lots of food. Then the last night we went into Rudy's, it was one of the best meals we have ever eaten! !

Plenty of activities to to do at the resort, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming etc.

Pool is beautiful, as are the grounds.

We visited the spa twice for two different types of massages, both were great.

Overall we loved this placed, and the best honeymoon we could've ever imagined.

Only complaint would be the builders started hammering boards and being noisy at 8.15am, I thought this was a bit early for holidaysmakers to be woken up!!

And Not a complaint, as we were aware before we went, everything is ridiculously expensive, but we only plan on having 1 honeymoon so we went with the attitude of cost didn't matter we just did whatever we wanted! I did notice that tours we booked were cheaper thru Alberts rather than booking them thru the Hilton.

This resort was perfect in every way. From check-in to check-out, it felt like the hotel staff's only focus was our happiness.
My wife and I stayed in a garden bungalow with a private pool. The room was very comfortable and spacious. There were plenty of activities on the resort property, and the snorkeling off of the beach was unbelievable. Both my wife and I are SCUBA divers, and the snorkeling here was better than many dives that we've been on. An extensive collection of all types of reef fish in every color of the rainbow live in the coralsaroundband under the overwater bungalows. Every time we went snorkeling, we encountered octopus that were curious and colorful. Watch out for the large eel!

I have to also mention the food: we ate the breakfast buffet every morning, and it never got old. It included an incredible selection, and on Sunday morning it is a 'Polynesian' style breakfast buffet, even including poisson cru. Make sure to grab a croquet Monsieur at the pool bar (so rich), and a crepe or two at the overwater restaurant (decadent!).

Stayed in an overwater bangalow. Rooms are excellent. Plenty of corals and tropical fish to check out everywhere. The best breakfast boofet I've ever seen. Food in the hotel is very good. Don't really have to go outside of the hotel to eat unless want a change in scene.
