“Excellent hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2011

This being our first trip to the french polynesian islands, we did our research...with the help of Chloe from Tahiti travel planners....we were not disappointed.
The Hilton was a great hotel (smaller than the four seasons bora bora) and was just what we needed for the first leg of our vacation. The staff, service, accommodations, food was excellent. Our son loved the crepes! We were close to everything....the beach the restaurants...was nice not to have to walk too far....

We stayed in a villa with a plunge pool and the room was beautiful (little uncomfortable with no real separation of bathroom and bedroom...) but all worked out.

Beauty doesnt do justice to the word. My husband and I spent four nights and five days at the Hilton Moorea. We spared no expense for the very best over the water bungalow and got exactly that. The resort has been recently renovated and wow it was posh. When we entered we had a bottle of wine waiting for us. The beds are "the best" we have ever slept in a hotel. The bungalow was roomy with an open air shower, which is great for newlyweds. I must say I did take advantage of the clawfoot tub after a long day of exploring the island. Our bungalow was all the way at the very end so of course our view was unobstructed and amazing. Sitting on my terrace at sunrise and sunsets were nothing short of spectacular. Also you have a coffee table that's covered im glass and gives you a great view of the fish.
The staff at the hotel were alway friendly and willing to help book your excursions, or dinner reservations. We chose to eat breakfast daily at the resort which was the "american breakfast buffet".. The spread was definitly made for a king. The exspansive spread included every type of fresh fruit and juices..to eggs every way you can imagine, sausage and bacon. Pastries and breads were also available which were made daily. The Tahitian donuts were to die for and addictive. We defintely fueled up for our days ahead. We didnt eat dinner on site, we chose to eat somewhere different every night..except Alfredo's which we ate at twice because the food was amazing! So definitly go to Alfredo's if you want good italian food. You make the reservation with the concierge and the driver will pick you up at the alotted time and drive you back when finished. Now what entirely won me over was on our last night, while we were out to dinner one of the staff decorated our suite with flowers and candles. When we came back from dinner we were utterly shocked and surprised. What a great way to end our say in Moorea. The Pearl Bora Bora had a lot to live up to!

Room Tip: superior overwater bungalows are more expensive because of the location.

My wife and I stayed at the Hilton Moorea for our Honeymoon and could not have asked for a more perfect place to spend a week relaxing and soaking in the sun. We stayed in an over-the-water bungalow for the duration of our stay. The view from our bungalow was extraordinary as we were the furthest out into the lagoon. This certainly did not feel like a hotel as you had your own private room with a nice resort only steps off the beach.

The staff at the hotel are some of the nicest and most service oriented that I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dinah is a wonderful person to get to know and will prove to be a valuable resource to you during your stay. We also had a great guy Hei-Nui taking care of us throughout our stay and always went out of his to acknowledge us and making sure we enjoyed our stay.

I really have trouble finding anything negative to say outside of the price of food for what you are getting. This shouldn't come as a shock to many as the island in general is expensive. I would highly suggest finding some of the local eateries less visited by tourists to find a good deal.

The all local staff at the Hilton really make the experience. Their kindness and generosity kept everything laid back and polite. Advice on excursions was spot on. Have the hotel arrange the transport from the ferry dock before you get there. We reserved on the hotel website and took advantage of advance purchase pricing with included breakfast buffet. The prices were higher for food here than in Tahiti but the island is pristine and gorgeous, true paradise. The sunsets and sunrises were spectacular. The overwater bungalow was all we had hoped for including the "window in the floor" , sumptous comfortable bed, modern cool bathroom and the sundeck with steps down to the water. If I were returning, I would probably book the garden view room, having had the OWB experience as you can snorkel right off the beach in the shallow lagoon. Only downside--paying for Internet access which we had to do everywhere in French Polynesia. We scuba dived with topdive many times and took the ATV tour with Karls. All in all a fabulous anniversary celebration.

Staying for the first time in your life in an over water bungalow is a fantstic experience. To be able to take a few steps down the ladder into the crystal clear temperate water amongst a miriad of colourful tropical fish was just part of this unforgetable holiday trip. My wife and I celebrating our 35th W A enjoyed the opportunity to compete for the most vivid photographs of the beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Whether dining in the upstairs restaurant or the last night 'Romantic Beach Bar B Q for 2' both the food and the ambience made for a truely memorable experience.
The buffet breakfast was equal to the many others we have enjoyed over the years. Atrip down to the local supermarket will provide all the drinks and nibblies that you may require for those twilight drinks on your outside sundeck

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an Over Water Bungalow

My husband suprised me with the news we were honeymooning at Tahiti. I had heard it was beautiful but nothing prepared me for the beauty and breathtakingness of Hilton Moorea Resort. We stayed in an overwater bungalow & the moment we stepped foot in it we were in love & speechless. The staff are gorgeous & so very friendly, no task is too big or an inconvenience. The restaurants are too die for and the food & cocktails are heavenly. We ate, drank & snorkelled our hearts out. The water is crystal clear and the reef life is amazing. At night the lights would turn on under our bungalow and we could see the reef life swimming by through our glass bottom coffee table floor. Stunning!!!!! We enjoyed a sensational couples massage which was out of this world. The activities Hilton has to offer are perfect & something to suit everyones taste. We highly recommend the overwater bungalows for Honeymooners. The sunsets are magical and the whole atmosphere there is just breathtaking. We will definetly be back!!

We arrived in Moorea on the evening of Monday, July 25th from Bora Bora. Our flight was smooth and we left the airport to meet the car rental rep. We don’t speak French, so the communication was difficult, but basically, the van to take us the agency could not fit all of our luggage. The driver wanted my husband to go with him, take the car, then drive back to meet the kids and I at the airport. The problem with this was that we understood we would have a manual transmission, which my husband can’t drive. So ultimately, the driver explained he would drop off the other guests and come back for us. We were frustrated, but the driver returned pretty quickly. We drove to the agency and arrived to see 2 very small vehicles. We had 4 guests and 4 suitcases, as well as 4 carry on bags and thought we would never fit in the vehicle. We were ultimately able to fit in the car, but had a suitcase in the backseat and one on my lap on the passenger seat, so thankfully we did not have too far to drive to the hotel. At this point we were pretty tired and ready to eat dinner and rest.

We checked into the Hilton and were not as wowed as we were in Bora Bora, but it was dark and we really couldn’t see the resort. We had reserved 2 garden view rooms using our Hilton points. When we got to our rooms, we were very pleased with the room. The hotel had left a bottle of wine in one room and a bottle of juice in the kids room. Only problem was that the rooms were wrong. We were to have a queen room and one with two twin beds. No way were we going to have a 16 year old boy and an 11 year old girl sleep together in a queen bed. So my husband went to the front desk to let them know we had specifically reserved a twin room. Unfortunately, they were not very accommodating with our request because their records did not show we specifically reserved twin beds in one room. We then had to find our documentation showing our request and confirmation and ultimately were told we could move the next day.

As my husband was dealing with the office, I discovered that the toilet in our room was leaking on to the floor. Housekeeping came to make up the sofa into a bed for one child, so I asked them to have someone come fix the toilet. It wasn’t the way we wanted to spend our first night. We did ultimately get moved the next day into a room with two beds. We were in rooms 28/29, which were nice in a good location, but a little bit further from the pool/lobby area.

The first night in Moorea, we decided to eat at the hotel casual restaurant. The menu was pretty similar to the Hilton at Bora Bora, but not exactly the same. We actually did not care for the dinner and we did not eat there again for dinner.

The next day we were able to explore the resort and the area outside as we had our car. The resort is very pretty with lush vegetation. We enjoyed the beach as well, which was nice, but smaller than in Bora Bora. We liked the free rental of kayaks and peddle boats. We had the breakfast included with our room, which was very good. We ate lunch a couple of times at the hotel and thought it was good.

We drove to Les Tipaniers for lunch one day, which is in a pretty location with a view of the beach. The was also pretty good. They served many salads, some sandwiches, burgers and pasta. Some people ordered sundaes that looked delicious, but we didn't try it. We intended to go back, but never got to. We also went to Allos Pizza, which we really enjoyed and went back there twice. The pizza was delicious. We had lunch at Carmelines, which was pretty good, but a more limited menu. We did not end up trying any of the other restaurants we had read about because we just did not want to spend a ton of money on food with two teenagers.

The staff at the pool and around the hotel were very nice and friendly. One time, we were carrying a box of grocery items and a hotel employee drove up with his cart and told us to get in, that he would drive us to our room. We had a great conversation and appreciated him going out of his way to help us.

I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who is travelling to Moorea.
