“Nice place to stay in Snells Beach”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2014

We stayed here for two nights for my birthday. We were in the one bedroom suite.
The view was ok from our room, the room was bright and modern, the breakfast was great too.
Hosts were very attentive and had good local knowledge.

Room Tip: The Other room would be better then the one bedroom, little privacy and yes you can hear the people...

Our stay at Tahi Lodge was a beautiful weekend escape. The one bedroom apartment we had was beautifully decorated and extremely comfortable containing everything we needed. Linen and bedding was of a very high quality and great pride was taken in everything provided to us - including our beautiful breakfasts. More importantly to us, our hosts Warren and Lauren were so gracious and welcoming and imparted some invaluable local tips which we found to be extremely useful. It made our stay that much more special. We had no issues at all with hearing them upstairs - we couldn't hear a peep from them so for us, it was also very still and very peaceful. Looking forward to our next visit and exploring some more local hideaways.

Fantastic room for 2 people. We stayed in the Kawau Suite for 2 nights, March 2013. The room sleeps 4 but we found it a perfect size for our short stay. The kitchen was well equipped with all that you would need to prepare meals, which we did. We also thoroughly enjoyed the added bonus of the BBQ on the deck which was a great thing to have this time of year.
The view from the bedroom is absolutely stunning in the morings and found we woke early each morning watching the sun come up over the water.
Warren and Lauren were gracious hosts who were there for advice on local attractions and things to do, but also gave us our privacy, and we felt at ease comming and going as we pleased.

All in all, if you need a getaway, the Tahi Lodge provides a beautiful and comfortable central staging location for the many scenic wineries and attractions of the Matakana area.

We stayed at the lovely Tahi lodge for 3 nights. Well designed rooms with everything you could need, comfy bed with quality linen. Beautiful homemade breakfasts every morning looking over the bay.

About 15 mins walk into town. I wouldn't recommend the fish and chips there but lauren recommended seafood and eat it in workworth which we ate by the river and was delicious.

About 10 mins down to beach which is beautiful when tide is in in afternoon but morning wasn't great.

Only criticism I have is the lack of privacy. Lauren was lovely but seemed to be in our room every time we popped out even for 5 mins and people walking past out patio and windows constantly, also we were in the one bedroom apartment and could hear them upstairs the whole time walking around, talking, phones ringing etc so just lacked privacy a bit.

Room Tip: Don't get the one bedroom under their living area it's loud

We stayed with Warren and Lauren 4th and 5th Jan 2013. From the first contact they were incredibly accommodating, helpful and professional. Everything was easy and Lauren was wonderful.

The Matakana Suite was very well appointed and the bed very comfortable. The lounge area is spacious and beautifully decorated and the bathroom is also spacious and has everything you need.

The breakfast - stunning. Lauren takes a lot of pride and care in the quality of the ingredients and the layout. For a continental breakfast it was just lovely! And there was more food than we could eat.

And as for Warren and Lauren - what incredibly lovely hosts. Lots of local tips and recommendations and they are very warm and generous hosts. They recommended a beach called Buckleton's which we went to after we checked out and it was one of the highlights of our 2 1/2 days.

We will be back!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tahi Lodge. We were upgraded to 2-bedroom Kawau Suite which had stunning panoramic view. The place was so comfortable, top quality appliances and utensils, BBQ, most comfortable bed we've ever slept in!! Lauren and Warren, the hosts, were so friendly and helpful with the local advice. On arrival we were greeted with complementary fruit bowl (massive one), loaf of fancy bread, butter, jam, milk, fruit juice. Sky TV had more sports and movies we could watch. Perfect place for romantic weekend away. We will definitely be back :-)

We stayed at Tahi Lodge for two nights 28th & 30th January 2012 & it was the perfect weekend get away. Accommodation was lovely, had everything we needed and more with the most amazing breakfasts delivered to our own courtyard area overlooking the sea. There is plenty to do and see in the area - we really enjoyed the walks. Lauren & Warren Kitchin are great hosts. Would recommend to all and hope to return for another summer getaway.
