“Another great holiday at QBH!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 8, 2013

We have had another lovely stay here, in October for 10 days this time. Weather was great, as usual!

Once again we were treated very well by the great friendly staff who can't do enough for you.

Food was good, although we did miss the Chinese night this time!

Thanks again QBH for a great holiday and for making my birthday so special. Look forward to seeing you again next year.

Room Tip: Seaview rooms are lovely for the sunset but bear in mind if you want a rest from the sun you won'...

We are slightly biased as we have visited Queen's Bay annually since 2007. The location is a little isolated but ideally suited for those seeking a quiet relaxing holiday in friendly surroundings. If you want non-stop nightlife or family orientated all day (and evening) entertainment this is NOT the place for you. The staff are outstanding; helpful, friendly and polite. Many have been at the hotel longer than we have been visiting which speaks volumes for the way they are valued by the management. The food is buffet style offering plenty of choice at all meals. We have had better food but the quality is good and well cooked if a little cold on occasion.

We book directly with the hotel taking the all inclusive option which is very competetive compared with tour operator prices.

Room Tip: Book directly with the hotel. You are guaranteed a sea view and the prices are competetive.

We have just returned from another super holiday at the Queens Bay. This was the best yet. Queen's Bay Hotel's position on the coast could not be bettered. It is a perfect place to view perfect sunsets. The staff are, as always, friendly and helpful. The food is plentiful and varied and everywhere is spotless. As for the entertainment it is quite varied; fire eating, magic, karaoke, greek dancing, quiz night and music and dancing. The music is varied and on at least two nights a week if you ask for particular music they will do their best to accommodate you. My husband and I go with the intention of enjoying ourselves but it would be dfficult not to at this lovely hotel.

Room Tip: We prefer seaview rooms.

We stayed at Queen's Bay on an all inclusive holiday with First Choice.

We found the staff friendly and the atmosphere relaxed.

All meals were served on a buffet basis. The food was basic, always a selection of cooked meat, fish, vegetables and potatoes as well as pasta, rice, chips etc.. Very good salads and a selection of puddings. There was plenty there, well cooked, nicely presented, quite often local dishes as well.

The all inclusive drinks thing was limited to local brew, wines, spirits, etc as well as a selection of cocktails. If you wanted branded drinks there was a small supplement to pay. If you are all inc you get tea making facilities in your room. There are lots of different levels of service available, some were half board, some all inc, etc. Therefore there are rules about abusing the system and being refused all inc.

The hotel is a bit out of the way but there are a few bars within walking distance and the bus stops just a few minutes walk away and takes you direct to Paphos ,main town, harbour and Tombs of the Kings.

The hotel grounds are nice, the hotel well decorated and absolutely spotlessly clean. My biggest niggle is that all the furniture, beds, sun beds were nothing but functional and not particularly comfortable. Take your own pillow, the ones supplied are only half size and I had a found them difficult to sleep on!!

There is a beach of sorts where it is possible to get into the sea but it is a bit rocky in the water and the beach is little more than dust.

There seems to be some thought given to the disabled as well with spacious rooms at ground floor level with big sliding doors to get out into the grounds if you are wheelchair dependant and ramps all round the grounds and in the hotel common parts.

Bottom line is would we go again and the answer is definitely YES!!!

Room Tip: Sea view rooms are great especially at sunset.

I try not to put my comments on here too often because I think visitors are more interested in guest’s views, not the hotel.
However, I would like to thank all the people who have posted such excellent reviews over the last month. I'm glad to see that everyone had a good holiday. There are a few minor items that I would like to mention to clear up matters in people's minds.

One matter is the WiFi and having to pay for it. I agree that many (maybe most) bars around town offer free WiFi but you have to remember that they don't have to do anything to offer it. The box that you get from the internet company has WiFi built in, so all they need to do is give you the code. The bar is probably just one room, so coverage is easy - if you can't get a signal outside, move closer to the bar. In the Hotel we have to extend the coverage by having boosters situated top, front and back of the hotel so the signal can be received in all the bedrooms. We couldn't do that ourselves, so we have employed a company to do it and they are the ones who charge for the use.

Another is the beach. I would like to explain that all beaches belong to the public - there are no private beaches (despite what some hotels would have you believe). So our little cove is open to anyone. The other minor problem with the cove is our location beside a big bay. If the wind comes from the West then the tide sweeps round the bay and often deposits sand in our cove. Unfortunately, if the wind is from a more Easterly direction the tide sweeps the other way and can remove the sand. It is interesting, during or just after a big storm, to see the bright yellow colour of the sea in the middle of the bay. That's where the sand goes!

I think the only other thing to mention is the comments about the age of the guests. It is true that we do aim, not so much at any age but at offering a quiet, relaxing holiday. We don't turn children away, we're not against teenagers and young adults but each hotel makes a conscious decision on the type of clientele they are aiming for and the general style and entertainment is geared to that. We have had reviews that say “it needs some music round the pool” and many more who say “it’s wonderful not to be deafened by constant poolside music”. So we can’t win but we do listen to the majority of our guests.

That is far more than I intended to say but it might help people decide if we are the hotel for their holiday.

A lovely hotel. The room was spacious and clean although the shower was very hit and miss. The staff were all very friendly, polite and helpful, I don't think I've every stayed at a hotel were ALL the staff are good, there's always one or two who are a bit iffy. They were either good actors or they seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs.

The pool area and gardens are nice with plenty of sunbeds and places to sit but yes the sunbeds were uncomfortable.

The food was well cooked with enough of a range so we always had something we wanted but unfortunately it was seldom hot enough for me. I noticed they brought the food out in metal dishes but didn't need oven gloves which would suggest they are putting hot food into cold dishes which is going to cool it down before it even gets to the buffet. It was a shame as the quality of the food was good and the chef obviously cared about the food he was producing.

The evening entertainment was ok, enough to keep you interested. As others reviewers have commented there was a large group of people who meet up every year. If they happen to read this then please could you all spend the next year working on your karoake! 'There's a hole in my bucket' followed by 'Ernie the fastest milk float' with the Wurzels to finish is not entertainment you should inflict on others! That's two hours of my life I'll never get back!!

We got a tourist map from the reception and decided to walk into Paphos rather than get the bus. Be warned the map is not to scale. It took about 1hr 20mins to get to the Tomb of Kings at fair lick and another 20 mins from there. We got a taxi back which was 12e so quite pricey compared with the bus.

The hotel booked us a taxi back to the airport and quoted us 45e. When our taxi driver from down in Paphos asked us how much we were going to be charged he said he'd do it for 35e so we cancelled the hotel one. So it's worth asking around rather than let the hotel book it.

Overall a good hotel and a very relaxing holiday. We stayed all inclusive and think we had good value for money so would have no hesitation in recommending.

NOTE: On my return I was taken ill and diagnosed with Cryptosporidium, a water borne parasite. I don't think for one minute it has anything to do with the hotel but I suspect it might of been from the sea as I swallowed a bit of water by accident. The water by the shoreline is very sheltered and less tidal so it is not getting changed as such. Further out you in deeper water. So as an advisory I would suggest anyone with a weakened immune system to exercise caution as it can be a very nasty illness for the well let alone those who are compromised in some way.

Just to reiterate I am absolutely confident it has nothing to do with the hotel.

Room Tip: One overlooking the pool for the best sunset, but they get very hot late afternoon.

Good location, staff but evening entertainment is for elderly people. Would not recommend young couples, friends to stay there as nothing to do in the evenings around. Need to get bus to paphos which is not too bad but last bus is around midnight. Dinner and lunch do not include any drinks even water so get ready to pay. Was ok but would not go back.

Returned to Queen's Bay for another holiday in September 2013 - like meeting up with old friends. The staff are so friendly and helpful, and always remember you from previous visits. We have been going there (on and off) for the past 20 years (so we were a lot younger when we first went there!), and the standards and service have always been excellent. All praise to the staff who work long hours - and so sad to hear Mr Demetris has now retired. He will be missed. To anyone wondering whether to stay at the Queen's Bay, you will have a restful time with great views; relax in the gardens or round the pool or go to the little bay for a dip in the sea. Why else do people keep returning? Looking forward to our next visit.

Room Tip: With a high-up sea-view room you can watch the glorious sunsets every evening.
