“Super place all in all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

This a really good spot except that they do not proved ALL the info you need. When we booked many months ago, we specifically asked for a room not over the pool. We assumed that was the case until we got here and were told that they cannot rent out the units farthest away. That is rather disingenuous. Now, the weather is such (not so great) that the noise from the pool has not bothered us, but I wonder what the case would have been if the temperature had been 30 and higher? The place really is a 10 but for that. I know it is not their fault but a rather noisy frog interfered with our sleep

I thought this place was magnificent. The room we had was loft style, extremely spacious, large balcony with a view that over looks the courtyard/pool, then lake view which is stunning. It's a new resort, very clean. Food was delicious, and staff were all so friendly and helpful. They have all the rentals you will ever need such as paddle boards, kayaks and speed boats. Worked out in the gym as well, was happy with the treadmill, great view of the water and mountains...
There is also walking trails so you can get out for a lovely nature walk with your dog as it seemed as though its a pet friendly resort.

I definitely recommend this resort.

This is a good place to be. A great place to hold meetings and events of all kinds. Probably some of the best, friendly and efficient staff I have ever come across (except for one isolated 'off in the land of oz' barman). Great experience though and worth every penny.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Stayed in a 2 bedroom suite for a weekend in May. The view from our balcony was amazing, and loved that we could literally step out of the front door and be right at the marina and lakeside. The suite was a split plan, with the living area in the center - nice if you want some privacy or travelling with another couple. Spacious, and well stocked with anything that you could need.Did not eat at the restaurant as I was visiting family nearby. I love the Okanagan; just a perfect spot with so many things to do. We spent one whole day wine tasting, and only touched on a few of the wineries. So much better priced than Napa, but even more beautiful IMHO.

Room Tip: Ask for a lakeview room!

You know you're in trouble - on a 25-degree afternoon in May - when you look out your $299-a-day Lakeside window and see the empty swimming pool. Empty as in no people . . . and no water. It's easy to find . . . it's right next to the bone-dry hot-tub and the arid fountain . . . alongside the plastic-wrapped snackbar . . . and just beyond the stagnant, algae-encrusted lagoon.

Funny . . . that's not how the place was advertised . . . or described on our pre-paid reservation confirmation. I will "love the two outdoor pools, hot tubs and waterslide" is what they said.

But nobody at the hotel seemed to think it mattered. Just like it appeared that nobody cared about the cigarette butts in the main entrance planters . . . no plants, just butts . . . or the truly haphazard restaurant service . . . or the fact that, when the fire alarm sounded at 4AM, there were no staff present to direct the evacuating guests . . . and no apology or explanation the following morning. It's as if nobody involved has ever before run a hotel.

I wouldn't go back on a bet.

Room Tip: A room in another hotel would be a good idea.

This resort is really fantastic, in an area that lacks a number of good resorts, so I really want to give it a good review. For every aspect outside of our room, this review is very positive: the staff, pool area, landscaping, restaurant and facilities are all superb.

But the main purpose for this review, since no one else has mentioned it, has to be to warn anyone from booking in to a "studio" should they choose to visit this resort. In fairness to the management, the description of these units are not inaccurate if you read the fine print, but there are certain things you expect when you book in to a "studio" in this type of resort that are entirely absent here. This is probably because the "studio" is really just the second bedroom of a two bedroom apartment that can be configured to be a secure room in itself, and is absolutely tiny. Therefore, here are some of the things we expected that we did NOT have in our unit:
-Any type of kitchenette
-A fridge or minibar
-A desk or any surface area to prepare drinks or snacks, apply make up, use a laptop
-A safe
-Ice bucket*
-Wine glasses, corkscrew, bottle opener (this is wine country right?)
-Iron or ironing board
-Garbage can or recycling bin
-A surface area in the bathroom for toiletries (we had to leave them on the toilet or floor)
-Do Not Disturb sign for the door (so we got an early wake up call from housekeeping)*
-Any kind of seating other than the bed*
-Hotel information book
-Spare power sockets by the bed for charging cll phones
-Pool towels*
-Balcony
-A full length mirror, or any mirror outside of the tiny bathroom
(* these items were supplied when we asked at the front desk)

Given that at the time we booked it would only have cost an extra $40 a night for a spacious 1 bedroom suite, which had inflated to $130 a night by the time we checked in and saw the tiny space we had purchased, this was especially difficult. The management of this resort has no business describing these units as studios, since they are smaller and more poorly equipped than standard hotel bedrooms.

So yes, do come and visit the Cove resort since it is a great place to stay. But don't book a studio no matter how good the offered rate: it leads to a sub standard experience and what would otherwise be an above standard resort.

Room Tip: Don't book a studio

I won a package from this hotel at a charity event. They promised a 9 course meal prepared and served by the executive chef in our suite, plus a massage in the spa and one night's stay. I have never claimed a prize like this, so I didn't know what to expect, but these guys delivered. We met the chef and on our suggestion decided it would be better to have our meal in the dining room rather than in our suite. (We didn't want to be couped up in our room all night.) This was easier for the chef and service staff, too. Well, Chef de Montreuil really delivered. It was an incredible meal, wine paired every step of the way. Our server had a great personality, and Chef came out and personally introduced every course.

Other than the meal, the location and grounds of the hotel are superb. We took a long walk around the adjacent Gellatly Nut Farm park.
