“A relaxing week at Casa Loma”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2013

We spent one week at this well maintained resort from September 10 - 16, 2013. It is located in a residential area on the West side of the lake and about a six minute drive from downtown Kelowna. Suite 300 (1500 sq., ft) was our home away from home and it had 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, in-suite laundry, fridge, stove, dishwasher, well equipped kitchen, dining table which sat 8, private balcony off suite with BBQ and a killer view of the lake and another huge table. The staff were wonderful and very helpful with any questions we had.

Our friends drove in from Surrey for a few days and we went to the following restaurants for dinner: The Fixx (was excellent and we went twice). It is a tiny place so reservations are a must. Raudz another excellent choice for dinner (right next to The Keg on Water Street in downtown Kelowna).

I have included some pictures of the Casa Loma. This is a family friendly resort (no pets) and in the summer time it would be a perfect spot for a family vacation. September was wonderful for my husband and I because the resort changes pace and it was a relaxing haven. You really could not go wrong staying here.

Sincerely,

Room Tip: All rooms have a lovely lake view.

Stayed here on September 14-19/2013, still the same great service. Beautiful view of the Okanagan Lake, morning sunshine reflecting off the water. Very quiet place to stay away from the traffic noise. So peaceful and relaxing at this resort. The rooms here are excellent. Housekeeping staff makes sure that you have enough supplies when you stay. Front desk people are very friendly and helpful. Maintenance person on site to fix what needs to be repaired. Great staff to encounter, always smiling and greeting every guest that stays here. I will definitely be back next year.

Thank you Neil for writing your review - and so promptly too! It is very much appreciated by all staff who do their best each day to make your visit as comfortable & pleasant as possible. We do love the fall weather & scenery. The fall is the perfect time to enjoy a wine tour, golf outing or simply sit on your balcony and enjoy the views up and down the lake. We look forward to seeing you next year.

We stayed here the last week of August with our two young children (4 &3), and it was wonderful. There was a small group (6 families in total - 12 adults - 10 kids) of us so we all stayed in the condo's. Some had 3 bedrooms on the second & third floors which was wonderful for the space and evening entertaining; put the kids to bed in your own units, turn on the monitors and then the adults socialize into the night on someone's deck! We stayed in a ground level, walk out, one bedroom with a pull out sofa in the living room and it was well appointed, both for decor and amenities. Walk out was handy for quick trips to the washroom and snacks for kiddies (though there are washrooms located by the pool on the ground floor too).

There was daily cleaning and towel exchange for our 5 night stay which was unexpected and very welcomed.

Kids played in the sand, shallow water and in the pool. They also loved fishing off of the dock and caught several fish using cheese stick pieces for bait - handy!

Pool was excellent for adults and kids. There is a large pool and hot tub and a small wading pool for the babies. Excellent set up!

BBQ area very handy and we never had to wait for anyone else despite there being several large functions on different nights.

This was our first trip to Casa Loma and we all re-booked before we left and hope to bring along a few more families next year. Great vacation!

Room Tip: 3 bedroom units have their sleeping quarters on the upper floor, with an extra large deck out the ba...

We are very pleased that you enjoyed your Summer stay with us. The end of August is becoming a favourite time for families with young children. We host many family reunions such as yours at that time of year, which makes our roomy three bedroom units with full kitchens very popular. Lake Okanagan is at its warmest in late summer, so it is a great time for a swim or other water activities. We encourage re-booking before departure so our guests can look forward to their next vacation getaway at Casa Loma. See you next year!

Thank you for your generous comments. The Villas are indeed very well-received and offer that extra touch of peace and quiet. Our units are privately owned so the owners must take credit for their interior decorating. Our staff do try their utmost to ensure our guests have a pleasant stay. Our lakefront pools and hot tub are a major attraction even on cloudy days. We hope to see you again in the near future.

Stayed in a 3 bedroom condo at Casa Loma in late August for 4 nights and thought it was great. Had 4 adults and 2 kids (4 and 8) it was perfect for all of us. Weather was a bit sketchy but we still got to hit the pool most days. Nice little beach and grass area and while the resort seemed to have a lot of people staying there it never felt crowed and we got lounge chairs at the pool each day with no problems. Master Bedroom in condo was definitely a lot better than the small 2nd and 3rd bedrooms but all was fine. Nice and easy BBQ area too, we never waited for an available one. It's a 10 minute drive to WestBank shopping area to stock up on booze and food. Will stay again for sure

We were pleased to hear your whole family had a great vacation! August is a great month for weather and is the perfect time to take in the hot tub, heated pool and to get cozy in our spacious 1, 2 and 3 bedroom Lakefront units. We have 6 large BBQ’s in the common BBQ area so no one is ever waiting to prepare meals. Our location on the Westside of Okanagan Lake, just over the bridge, gives guests great access to both downtown West Kelowna (only 10-15 minute drive) and Kelowna (5 minute drive) for all of your shopping, dining and entertainment needs.

This is the place to stay with an easy 3 minute drive into town, but with rental cabins and condo rentals on the lake with docks for your boat. Great allover grass area, next to trails in a preserve for morning walks and runs. They offer yoga and pool exercises in the mornings and jacuzzi and kids pool too. Friendly staff, kept up continuously, with a great location of 35 minute ride by boat to a nice nude beach or with the 100 mile long lake, plenty of private places to have fun. We took the boat for 20 minute ride for burgers but it would of been half the time in the car but not as much fun. Great restaurants in the area by boat or car. The wineries in the area were charming and we enjoyed all the fruit and vegetable stands in the area as well. Wish we could stay for weeks.

Room Tip: The cabins are attached to another cabin but are only ones for miles, with a deck and view of the la...

We appreciate your fine review! We are fortunate to be in a location that can offer guests peace & quiet but also be so close to the heart of downtown Kelowna. Many great attractions await guests a few minutes’ drive across the lake by car and many are easily accessible by boat. We are happy to be able to provide our guests with summer activities such as yoga and aqua-fit, as well as having Kalamoir Regional Park in our backyard. We hope to see you again in the near future to maybe stay a few weeks this time!

I would have given this 4 stars, but $335 per day is too much for what you get. I might even give them 2 stars, as I am disappointed.

There are problems that you should be aware of:
- Housekeeping does not clean your room after 1pm. So no sleeping late.
- TV was enclosed in an old-fashioned box-type enclosure making the flat screen TV
inaudible.
- When you go make sure to bring everything you need. Includes dish washer brush, good
toilet paper, everything. Utensils are the only thing provided.
- If you don't like noise, be careful. There are many children and the upstairs occupant will
disturb you. There are dozens of powered watercraft on the lake, and the noise is bad.
Twice at 6am some madman boater coasted by with rap music at full volume.
- If you must go, book a year ahead.
- If you are rich, I would rather go the Cove Resort up the lake

We appreciate receiving your comments. We encourage guests to contact the Front Desk during their stay with any concerns so that the issues we are able to control can be corrected immediately. The Housekeeping Manager would have been happy to arrange a later cleaning time if she had been aware of your sleeping preferences. We have never had a concern expressed about TV audio, however, would have been happy to address that problem during your stay.
We regret that you were not pleased with our kitchens. Our kitchens are fully stocked with dishes, glasses and coffee/tea cups. The Lagostina cookware, Pyrex dishes, blenders, mixers, toasters etc… are generally well received. Dishwasher tabs, dishwashing soap, tea towels and toilet paper are always stocked. If you happen to run low, we are more than pleased to provide you with what you need.
We are a family-oriented Resort in the summer season, therefore, we must agree that there will often be the sounds of children laughing, playing and running about. As a general rule, those activities are outside on our spacious lawns and playgrounds. Okanagan Lake is a busy place from June through to September. Unfortunately, not all boaters are courteous about the music they play or the hours they keep. We are fortunate to be in a quiet residential neighborhood with the regional park at our south property line to protect us from the sounds of the highway and vehicle traffic. The spring and fall are beautiful in the Okanagan and we hope that you might consider a return trip at that time when the families and boaters have returned to their homes.
