“Keep it quiet or all the Brits will arrive!!!! Excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 7, 2013

I have just arrived home from 11 nights at this hotel with Thomas Cook. It was a family holiday, 4 adults and 3 children.

I always suspected that the feedback added during June 2013 were the first Brits arriving who really should return to Benidorm or the Costa Del Sol and so I was right!!!

The hotel is in a small town called El Toyo about 10kms from airport and the City of Almeria. Yes it is very quiet and mainly visited by Spaniards for their summer beach holiday but it was a pleasure to spend 11 days away from noisy Brits. The children made friends with loads of Spanish kids who either could speak a bit of English or they just made do.

Within 2 minutes of the hotel their is a square with plenty of bars on and a further 10 minutes either via a walk down the promenade or main road there is a further set of bars with a supermarket and chemist. This really is a lovely resort and in a very natural part of Spain.

The hotel was fantastic and catered perfectly for families with children/ teenagers. If you are a couple looking for a quiet break then go somewhere else this hotel is all about families enjoying quality time in the sun.

The reception staff were 1st class, spoke great English, nothing was too much trouble for them and always done with a smile. I needed to get an important document sent home, they scanned it and even emailed it for me!!!

The rooms are not flashy but perfect for this type of holiday. They were kept immaculately clean daily with great balconies and air conditioning. The beds are fine too. If you have a family room they are huge. If you are above the reception you even get wifi in your room.

The free wifi does work just avoid busy periods so early morning or during the entertainment in the evening it was perfect. Just down to capacity.

The food was excellent plenty of choice, varied as much as possible and regularly replaced. The salads were fantastic and always one fish and two meats on the grill plus plenty of other dishes. Great bacon in the morning and even HP sauce!! The waiters were brilliant and you got your drinks served really quick.

The entertainment staff were brilliant only about 6 of them to cover kids club, sporting activities and the evening shows. They worked so hard and provided really good entertainment, yes they don't sing they mime but so be it. At the end of every night they get the whole hotel up dancing and really ensure that people enjoy their time at the Cabogata Garden!!

Their are 3 pools, a kids paddling pool, a fun pool and a deeper pool for swimming. They were immaculate and at least 2 life guards on at all times. Yes and they do enforce the one hour rule on sunbeds which is good to see but there are plenty so no real need to get up at 6!!

The shop in the hotel is really good with British newspapers and all the things you would need for your holiday but you can walk to the supermarket if you need more.

A really good point is that the hotel also has non all inclusive customers who pay for their drinks. I have been to hotels (Barceló chain) where they basically have local brands for all inclusive and the more recognised ones for paying guests. Not here it is all the same!! So you get Smirnoff, Bombay or gordons gin etc. etc.

A tip there is no cash machine in the immediate resort but there is plenty in Almeria or one at the hospital in El Toyo at the petrol station. But this is a good 1 hour return trip on foot, I know!!! So either bring enough euros or plan a trip a trip during your stay to the city of Almeria which is only 1 euro each way for adults, free for children and bus stop right outside hotel.

Almeria is a real typical Spanish city and well worth the visit. All the shops are closed on Sunday but the bars and cafés are open.

The Thomas Cook Rep (not that we ever need them) is not resident in the hotel and visits about once a week but to be fair to her she sent us 2 notes during the holiday to check we were okay with her contact number which was perfect.

All in all a fantastic holiday with my family at a great hotel. Well done to all the management and staff at the Cabogata Garden!!!

P.S. Don't tell the Benidorm Brits, leave them to moan there eating their beef sunday lunch and drinking tetleys in the Rose and Crown!!!!

Room Tip: If you want wifi in your room get one at front of hotel above reception, if you want to watch the sh...

Dear Guest

First of all thank you for the special mention you make of reception , entertainment and all the staff of Cabogata Garden .

We are glad you enjoy your time with us and that you had discovered in el Toyo a quiet and relaxing option for your holidays .

As you comment el Toyo is a residential area quiet but close to everything :Only 12 km from the Capitol and 20 minutes away from the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata.

Security in swimming pools is a must for us and our life guards are trained to keep surveillance constantly .In our ALL INCLUSIVE service, as you say, we only work with first brands. We do not use unknown ones. That make us happy you enjoyed them.

Thanks again for your review and we hope to see back in your next holidays.

I like many others had read the reviews before travelling and was somewhat dreading it and had even looked at trying to rearrange to go elswehere. However, i am so glad that we didn't because the holiday proved that previous reviews had been so wrong and so far from the truth!! I have just returned from our annual famly holiday (travelled with friends), relaxed, tanned and definitely 2 dress sizes bigger but wishing I was back at the Cabogata!
All aspects (apart from one - see below) of our holiday were great and far exceeded our expecations. I agree with previous reviews that the transfer to Cabogata is ideal as only a few minutes (especially in temperatures exceeding 85 degrees). Check in was very efficient and we were fortunate that our room was ready immediately on arrival at 10.30!!!!
The room was always cleaned thoroughly & spaciuous and more than adequate for us and a teenager!!! The food could not be faulted in any way. There was always an abundance of it, the quality was better than expected and the temperature of it just right. It beggars belief that any one (apart from your habitual moaners) could find fault with it. The pools were cleaned daily, well guarded and for the fiirst time in all my holidays, I did not have to get up at 5.00 to put towels on beds!!! The hotel stuck to its ruling that if your bed was not used for an hour, your towels were taken off and handed to reception.
The surrounding area of the hotel was again very clean and properly maintained. One small problem (although not for us) was that the life guards and toilets on the beach were not operational until 12.00.

Finally and only because it was a small factor and did not in any way spoli our holiday was the evening entertainment (day time entertainment was not a problem). The entertainment team could not have worked any harder, were a terrific team and extremely friendly to all. A credit to the hotel. However, the evening entertainment did not take into account the fact that the clientele were of all ages and nationality. Not once during my stay, did any of the team sing - all songs were mimed to. It would have made watching somewhat more enjoyable if some of team could sing and sang live. Finally, with a hotel of that size, the management should consider bringing in some outside entertainment. In the 10 days we were there, the Team provided the nightly entertainment for 7 nights.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your nice review , for us it is important to know the impressions of our guests as a way to improve our service .It is very gratifying for us to know you had such a good time.

Our main priority at the arrival of a guest is to offer a quick and efficient check in ,trying to have the rooms ready as soon as possible so you dont have to wait to long .

To offer a good buffet is very important for us and we have been working hard to improve it every time and also give the English client the temperature he demands on th e food .

As a way to give everybody the opportunity to enjoy the big amount of sunbeds we have at the swimming pool we have a control sistem on those sunbeds not used for more than one hour .
It seems to work and guests appreciate it .

The night entertaiment shows carried out by our team are more demanded by guests than the outside ones ,anyhow we do take note of your suggestion.

Once again thank you for showing us your opinion and we hope to see back again next time

We have just returned from our annual famly holiday, relaxed, tanned and wishing we were back in Spain!
All aspects of our week have been great- from flight and airport experience. Certainly the transfer to Cabogata is ideal at only a few minutes. Check in was very efficient and our room was ready immediately on arrival at about 2pm.
The family room being very spacious, over looking the pool area. We- like another reviewing family -benefitted from a view of the stage area/pool. This proved ideal, balcony view of the nightly show. Each evening there was a different theme- we enjoyed all, especially the 'lion king'and 'music through time'. The entertainment for all ages- mini, teen and adult - meant that for the first time, I got to sun bathe! This was also due to the reassurance of having life guard presence, so children could play and swim, the extra set of eyes being a lovely addition.
We liked the complimentary water (replaced daily) and cosmetics- used by our teenager!!
Since our return our appetites have been huge - I think because of the superb food- both in terms of choice and quality. We have been well and truly spoilt. I would happily challenge even the fussiest of eaters not to be at the very least satisfied by the varied and delicious choice. If you don't eat your fill at any of the designated meal times, you can be 'topped up' by the snacks constantly available morning and afternoon, as well as the ice cream and crisps available at the pool and indoor bar. Every single staff member was - friendly, courteous, efficient. The entertainment staff had 'bags of energy' and were great at encouraging everybody to get involved. The twice nightly minidisco proving very popular with our 7 year old. So much so that she has bought the mini disco CD on arriving home to continue the routines!!
The surrounding area has a lovely feel- we enjoyed an evening stroll along the beach front, plenty of tapas bars, pedal cars to hire, even a travelling fair. All in all- we would totally recommend this hotel and the area to anyone wanting a quiet break based around a top quality establishment.

After a week stay at the Cabogata Garden Hotel, Almeria, Me and the rest of my family are extremly pleased with the stay in general. Both adults and children were entertained throughout the day other than meal times by the Experience team, the experience team made us feel welcome instantly (Inma, Joao, Javier, Rocio, Ivona, Merce, Jasper). Also The lifeguards, I felt confident with my children being in the pool (the pool was lovely) with the amount of lifeguards present at all times, also with the lifeguards being involved with activities around the pool, such as diving. The bar staff and catering staff were pleasent and approachable, Nerijus Jucys in particular who befriended us through out our stay at the hotel, the food was spectacular, there wa a wide range in choice, always hot and made fresh in front of us. All in all the holiday was a huge success and we can't wait to return next year.

A lovely hotel, with very friendly staff and good food, entertainment, rooms, kids clubs, facilities........

Staff spoke mainly Spanish but had a good understanding of English and even my 8 year old managed to order his own drinks throughout the holiday. All staff including the entertainment team worked really hard and were always polite & friendly even at midnight!! Entertainment team worked hard to keep everyone (who wants to do!) busy with plenty of things to do for all ages however just a small note to ask them to translate a little more in English - especially for the Kids in kids club. Really enjoyed the water dance routine, aerobics etc.

Plenty of food to choose from, even the kids loved the variety of food on offer including pasta, pizza, fish fingers, chicken, sausage, salads, fruit, selection of cold meats & cheeses (but perhaps not the snails!!) and where not forced to eat chips for the 10 days!! How anyone can complain about the variety of food on offer must be very spoilt at home!!! The desserts and ice creams where to die for and you would find it hard pushed to decline some of the cakes even at breakfast.

Hotel clean and spacious (like all hotels some things need fixing), room service available daily or on request plus free bottles of water left in your room fridge. Family rooms are huge with so much room & we had the advantage of facing the pool & entertainment area so had prime seats to watch the entertainment even when my 3 years old needed an early night. The pool area was cleaned every day & had at least 2 life guards on duty throughout the day. Plenty of sunbeds & shade for all so please no need to get up at 8am to get your towel out....

Not a lot around the hotel but it depends what your looking for; there are a few bars, shops, restaurants in walking distance, beach right on the door step (ie a couple of minutes walk), bus ride 1 euro to Almeria town which is a lovely but typical Spanish town. If your looking for home from home English breakfast, English papers, a nice cup of English tea......(see other reviews!!) then pick somewhere that offers an English feel holiday but if your looking for a Spanish experience which hasn't been spoilt by the tourists then Almeria is lovely & well worth the visit before the rest of Britain arrive & change everything.....

Room Tip: ask for family room as they are bigger, if you don't mind the entertainment go pool side, if you...

We were a bit woried about the negative reviews this hotel had received, but I have to say they were totally unfounded. I agree the food is not like you would get in Blackpool and only once did we see Baked Beans, come on people this is Europe !!. The food was of a good standard and we certainly didn't go hungry. The staff were very helpful and friendly, and we would certainly go back again. I do beleive that most of the people who write reviews are either moaners or are trying to get some money back from the travel agents. A holiday is what you make it and nothing is ever perfect. This is the first time we have gone on holiday all inclusive and it was a great success. Thanks Thomas Cook for the recommendation.

Iam a seasoned traveller, with years of experience in all rates of hotels, and as always-I read the reviews for this hotel-although I take everything with a pinch of salt,as I know what moaners some people can be,and believe me,they are certainly moaners in this case..No the hotel is not perfect, but none ever are, certainly not in my experience, but in this instance,I can honestly say, this hotel is really nice, the staff are always cheerful, pleasant, and extremely helpful.the entertainment team work hard to keep everyone entertained, yes they cater for spanish guests too.as they do in a lot of hotels I have stayed in,but so what, from what I could see, everyone was having a great time.the food was good, service was always with a smile, rooms were cleaned frequently, with fresh linen and towels every day..no there was no wifi, but your on hol for goodness sake,we managed without it years ago, this hotel is a total chill out,the area is lovely, and perfect for couples and families.I think some people just read a few negatives on here, then are determined to find something wrong when they get there.if people have a genuine complaint, then they need to deal with properly, shouting at the staff or the rep,(which I sadly witnessed) is out of order, its not there fault if your plane is delayed,or you lose your underwear,my air con broke down, and within half an hour of me reporting it,it was fixed, the thomas cook rep was pleasant, helpul, and extremely efficient, and although she isnt always on duty all day as I believe they all work more than one hotel, she is a phone call away if needed and from what I seen, she certainly doesnt have "an easy job".all of the staff work extremely long hours, and still manage to smile. from the cleaners-to management, hats off to them is what I say,you are there to enjoy yourselves,.my two daughters had a great time, and have requested to go back next year, basicaly this holiday does what it says on the tin.clean, lovely rooms, great view of the pool, good food, good entertainment, lovely area.great weather, all you need
