“Great location for the park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Just 7 minutes walk to the park. Plenty of parking. I stayed Saturday night and on arrival there was only 1 other car in the carpark. Rooms are modern, clean and comfortable breakfast is ample and served until 9.30 (on Sunday). The bar was quiet on Saturday evening. Good evening meal menu, reasonable prices, helpful and friendly staff. It's a 25 - 30 minute walk to the underground for visits to central London. A good deal at £85 for a double room including breakfast.

i stayed in this fanstastic pub hotel for a few days and it could not have been any more plesent. As soon as we got there we were warmly welcomed by fatastic bar staff that showed us to our amazing 4 poster bed room with a fanstasic view of the river. it was perfectly cleaned every day, the breakfasts were delightful and alsways served with a smile (even at 8am on a saturday mroning). We ate in the pub most evenings, the food was also top class and was a warm welcoming 'local' feel to the place with everyone being very frenidly and welcoming to someone that wasent from area.

i will be returning for annother fantastic trip.

Room Tip: the 4 poster room is deffo worth the small extra charge

We have just spent a weekend visiting Kew Gardens and Isabella Plantation in the Royal Richmond Park Both were an absolute delight.
After reading the reviews we decided to try the Rose Of York this public house has rooms with river views at £85 no television but full wi fi FREE access the rooms were clean and bright, and at a price which represents great value for the area, i tried to book other accomodation prior to the Rose but was put off by the pricing policy, the most expensive being £245 VOW!!
So if you are on a budget you can expect a warm welcome from the landlord and landlady at this super pub,the beer is pretty good too!
it does what it says on the tin, offering a friendly clean pub room with full english breakfast included served by attentive staff

It was my mother in laws 90th birthday and we thought long and hard about where we could take her!!

It turned out to be a perfect day, the sun was shining, the kids and partners were there before us, almost unheard of, and the table was reserved!!!

Having soaked up the sunshine, the view and a few bevies, we were ushered inside, the food arrived quickly and was delicious. The staff were attentive without being "in the way" and we were allowed to sit at the table for as long as we wanted. (The bill was more than reasonable too!)

Looking for another excuse to get back there!!

Stayed at the Rose of York a number of times now, and if I am honest, I really can't think of anywhere nicer to stay if you are visiting London. Sensible prices, plenty of parking and most of all, a fabulous location by the river, and in Richmond, close to the royal Park and the amazing views from the top of the hill. Hope you enjoy it as much as myself and my family do.

After driving through Richmond and finding absolutely nowhere to park we were lucky to have stumbled upon The Rose of York on Petersham Road located just 5 minutes from the high street. My friends and I were greeted by a charming American girl behind the bar who poured us the least expensive and best tasting lager I've had in Richmond. I had the Taddy lager and friends around the table had an assortment of drinks all very reasonably priced and delicious. The food was also delicious and everything on the menu was under a tenner which made my wallet very happy too. We sat for hours checking out the one of a kind view of the River from their balcony and had a great time. I was so taken with this little oasis I decided to check out one of the rooms for a friend who is coming in from abroad next month and I was taken with how cozy and tidy this room was with yet another great view of the river. I told my friend that when he is looking for a place to stay in Richmond there will be no better spot than this. I look forward to many more visits.

As this is first reveiw i feel it is important to explain my reasons
I would not normally do this but after rowing in the london great river race a couple of week ends ago it gives me great pleasure to tell some of your other commentators just how welcoming and warm this pub with great veiws really is.After finishing the race we arrived back completely worn out to be welcomed by lovely warm rooms, with piping hot showers, after getting ready for a night on the town we had a few drinks in the bar with the owners, they could not more welcoming or friendly recommending drinks previously not known to us from there own range of beers and lagers, the food was so good the drinks so cheap guess what we decided to stay in!!! previously not heard of,we had a great breakfast of toast and lashings of warm tea and strong coffee once again served by our hosts.
We were joined at lunchtime by two other teams of rowers for sunday lunch this was from £6.95 and was served from a carvery by the owner and his charming wife,it was outstanding value obviously agreed by the others packing the outside and inside seating areas,no wonder when puddings start at £2.95.
Once again thank you to the owners and their staff keep up the good work we have already booked for next year

Room Tip: do not forget this is a pub a can be a little noisy until after close up around 11'30 pm the nig...
