“Nice bar, and the food good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

This is a bar and restaurant and is centrally placed in Richmond. The bar is very good, it has atmosphere and the beer is good. The food is okay, and again the service is friendly.
A nice place to hang out with your buddies.

“A great find !!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

The Duke is a Richmond pub with dining hall attached serving first rate, good value ("gastro") pub food. The staff are without exception, friendly, helpfully, well trained & eager to please. Additionally & of equal importance to the food quality (& unlike all too many of their competitors) they have a pretty decent, inexpensive selection of wines by the glass.

I had actually walked past this place for many years without venturing inside, but during the summer, when looking for a "non pubby" Richmond venue to host a small wedding/drinks reception, had the good fortune to be introduced to Egle & her team who in every respect exceeded our expectations!

I have since returned on any number of occasions to eat - the menu seems to change weekly at least, which for me is a good sign - or just for a quick beer & (with the exception of the Sunday roast which I felt was not up to their usual high standard), view this place as in many ways a breath of fresh air on the Richmond pub/brasserie circuit !

“Friendly staff average food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2012

Staff were very friendly and efficient and 3 of the meals were ok but the breast and leg of duck was truly awful - it must have been a really old bird as it was tough as leather and so I hardly got any meat off it at all. It was the most expensive of the 4 meals we had and definitely not worth the very expensive price. The pub has a good friendly atmosphere but it is unbearably noisy and so not really a good place to spend much time in unless you want to spend your time shouting at others!

“Could do better.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012 via mobile

Pleasant service but mediocre food. Perhaps we were unlucky but the dining room was extremely noisy to the point of being unable to converse due to a few large rowdy groups but as there were posters encouraging group bookings it may be like that at other times. Wouldn't go back.
