Description: This eclectic restaurant located on the Kew Road has truly surprised Richmond's restaurant scene. The whimsical décor at Rock and Rose reflects the iconic eatery's mantra - “Food, Passion, Glamour”, and the dining room is awash with edgy flock wallpaper, designer chandeliers and baroque black furniture. The punk-glam vibe and delicious fare have kept yummy mummies, stylish students and local trust-fund-fashionistas coming back for more. Signature dishes include the grilled lobster linguini; blue cheese salad and the Rock Burger with all the trimmings and shoestring fries. If that's not enough to convince you, Rock and Rose also have up to 25 bottles of wine for under £20. It would be rude not to.

“Lobster linguine”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

Very lively place, full of bright young things. Bit of a mix of decor with bust of Caesar and a Buddha statue and drapes of coloured cloth like a tent. Quite exotic in a Richmond sort of way. Glad we were sitting at the back which seemed a bit quieter and less on show. i was eager to try the lobster linguine having read a good review of it here. In my naivety I expected it to be out of the shell, just like I would expect king prawn linguine to be already shelled! I would have been happy with bits of lobster in the pasta and would have believed that it was authentic. I didn't need to see the shell and thought it was a little pretentious. I was determined to get the most out of it and actually pulled it apart to get the little bits out of the legs. Maybe I was too much of a lobster novice. Anyway a finger bowl would have been thoughtful, but they didn't. Also the dessert, brownie with white chocolate ice cream was excellent, but they only brought a spoon, NO FORK! Now surely a good restaurant would set a spoon and fork for a dessert of that type?

“Saturday Night Fever @ Rock & Rose”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Loud music and eclectic lounge decoration, cocktails and decent food - R & R is an experience which is fondly supported by the trendy of Richmond. No place for shrinking violets and its brightly lit and you know that you are part of a performance.

Saturday night with friends and a return to RnR much to my chagrin and a previously poor experience. Last night I saw the light and I'm a believer' . A very busy 'post rugby' atmosphere, very classy quick and efficient attentive service for drinks was a complete winner. Food portions were substantial and menu options offered a subtle list for the discerning (or even calorie conscious). Wine list is fairly decent and some good reds. Cocktails are limited but lush.

Friends have been there several times and always had a good time. London no 'out of town' discount as this is a London prices restaurant. Somehow it appears better value as the experience is better than many. It just may be the only place to go in Richmond.

I don't usually comment on individual staff members but truly excellent attention from the table host ('Asha/Joanna). It goes to show that someone can provide such a difference. This may be the same for all the team though.

“Quirky but good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

This place is a bit like Marmite - you'll love it or hate it ! Personally I loved it. It has a great atmosphere with very bold furnishings and statement decor. On my first visit I was unsure whether the food would live up to the boldness of this but I was not disappointed. The ambitious chef delivers great tasting, fresh food - a pefect accompanyment to the fabulous cocktails. A great venue all round

“Service great, Flies not so great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The service in this place was great, The starters was great but my main lamb dish was not cooked probably. My friends that had the lobster was really pleased with their choice. It looks great, really cosy looking. However there was little flies everywhere that went on my food, probably as there are trees in the front entrance. When I looked around they were a few on the walls too and in the toilets. I paid £55 for a starter, desert and drink as really didn’t enjoy the lamb plus the flies had a taste of the lamb too. I would not go back there, I felt dirty as fly swarmed about the restaurant.
