I was very pleasantly surprised by this hotel! I booked it over the internet requesting a double room, however, as it was a bank holiday, all that was available was a twin. The hotel staff rang me up to make sure that I was OK with this and apologise for not having what I requested. In addition, she provided a gift to compensate. I thought that was a great thought as most places just hand you what is available.
I found the location of the hotel to be ideal. Although Llanrwst was pretty sleepy, it was a great base to quickly get to Snowdonia National Park, Conwy, Caernarfon and Llangollen. It beats Betws-y-Coed which was only 10mins away but is too packed with tourists in the peak season.
Breakfast was fantastic and made to order. The choices were varied and included omelette, full Welsh breakfast, pancakes and salmon.
Dinner was also good. We found it very reasonably priced and of excellent quality. It seems to be used not only by hotel guests but locals also.
This hotel is warm and comfy with lovely old features rather than a modern sleek finish. The only reason why this is not a 5 star for me was that we did not get the best rooms in the hotel which costs a little extra. Those rooms looked fantastic and we would definitely try to book early for those next time we are in the area.
