Mary & Nelson, the owners of the Meadowsweet, are probably the friendliest, most helpful hoteliers we've ever encountered.
The hotel is in a good setting, with views from the front rooms over the open countryside - the field opposite is home to 3 horses & a flock of geese.
Our room was small, but perfectly adequate for our needs, although the bathroom was definitely at the lower end of the size range! The owners are in the process of refurbishing the hotel, so a few things were looking a bit tired. However, the restaurant & bar areas have been done out in the last month, and are really lovely. There's a log fire and lots of tea-lights in the bar, which made it really cosy. Food was superb - an extensive menu for evening meals, using local produce. Breakfast again was great, including an American option of pancakes with fresh berries or bacon, and French toast, both of which i thought were quite unusual.
Nothing was too much trouble, and we were able to take our dog into the bar with us each evening, which was great. She also stayed in the room with us, for a mere £10 additional charge for the whole stay.
We weren't that taken with Llanrwst itself, but that wasn't a problem, as the food & service in the hotel was so good, we didn't want to go elsewhere anyway! The location is convenient for Snowdonia & the Conwy coast, without having to cope with the bustle of Betws-y-Coed, which is just up the valley.
