How fortunate we were to happen upon this hotel. We could have chosen any other road into Snowdonia, but thankfully we ended on the one below Plas Maenan. I wanted to round off a wonderful holiday touring Scotland, England and Wales, in style. We were a group of 5, needing 2 doubles and 1 single room and paid only £45 per person (plus £10 for the single supplement) for B&B in 3 wonderful rooms. I actually told the owners that they were underpricing themselves, such was our delight with the quality of the service, rooms, location and food. If ever in the area again, I will not look any further than Plas Meanan and would even plan my trip around the availability of this wonderful hotel. Thank you to the owners for this special place.

We just spent 3 fantastic, relaxing days at Plas Maenan. We booked one of the suites and I have to say it is one of the best hotel rooms I have ever stayed in. The attention to detail in the furnishings is first class and the whole property has the feel of someone's home rather than a hotel. Add to this a friendly welcome, excellent service and a great location and it adds up to a highly recommended hotel.

We took a group of friends for several nights to Plas Maenan, and without exception (13 of us in total) they were hugely impressed by the comfort, the friendly and accommodating service, the fabulous food (we ate in every night) and the very reasonable price. Everyone loved the elegant rooms, each individually and tastefully furnished, and we enjoyed choosing between the bar, the lounge and the terrace for pre- and post-dinner drinks.

Breakfast in the conservatory allowed us to enjoy the spectacular view while chatting in small groups, and a single table accommodated us all for a more dinner-party atmosphere at our evening meals. It really did feel like being part of an edwardian house party - of the best sort! The food was varied, beautifully cooked and presented, and there was plenty of choice. Small changes to the menu each day kept us interested over the length of our stay, but there was also the opportunity of picking something that someone else had enjoyed the day before - the only problem was how to choose when several dishes all came highly recommended!

We were impressed by the attention to small yet telling details: complimentary munchies and after-dinner mints, enough cushions and bolsters to prop us up comfortably for reading in bed, even ducks for floating in the bath!

The staff and the owners were all friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. We decided to split meal-and-drinks costs, which must have involved quite complex noting and accounting but which was done without any fuss.

I think we are all planning to go again - either together or separately. We had such an enjoyable, comfortable, elegant and relaxing time. My only hesitation in recommending it is that we shall have more competition in booking!

We were lucky enough to stay at Plas Maenan for three nights taking with us elderly parents. We could not have been made more welcome by the charming owners Caroline and James, who went out of their way (as did all of the excellent staff) to make our stay pleasant. The rooms were very well appointed with every comfort available. Breakfast was served in the conservatory overlooking the valley with loads of choice of freshly prepared food. We had dinner in the dining room each evening and the food was again excellent and beautifully presented. If you want a truly relaxing break in glorious surroundings with the added bonus of peace and quiet (no children under 10 allowed) we could not recommend this highly enough. We can't wait to return!
