“A wonderful experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

This was at least our fourteenth stay in this hotel of charm, faultless service and care of every detail. The food is excellent including the outstanding breakfasts and the cheeseboard. There is a charm about the place that makes you feel comfortable and cossetted.

A beautiful property in lovely gardens, not too far from the M6 to be a good stopping off point on a journey, but also a destination in its own right. Also a good base from which to explore Hadrian's Wall and return at the end of the day to collapse into luxurious comfort. The welcome is warm and friendly and service is well organized and gracefully delivered. The set price dinner is both excellent and very good value. The number of regularly returning guests we met is a tribute to the skill with which this hotel is run.

A potentially difficut review to write because while this is a good, if not great, hotel; it would not necessarily suit everyone. Situated in the north east of Cumbria, not too far from the Northumberland border and in Hadrian's Wall country, this hotel represents English hospitaliy at its best. From the moment you arrive the staff and owners are concerned about your comfort and enjoyment, they achieve this in an unobtrusive but supportive manner. The style of the hotel is somewhat 'old fashioned' but I guess an enthusiast would call it English Country House style. Despite the 'old fashioned' nature of the hotel, it is a very comfortable place to stay and the food is good. There is no frippery on the plate and no attempt to produce molecular or any other type of faddish food, what you get is plain, tasty cooking that allows you to feel satisfied at the end of the meal. A decent wine list accompanies dinner. Breakfast is adequate and in my view could do with some thought towards an overhaul. Farlam is ideal for a relaxing break away from it all where the hoteliers and staff go to great lengths to ensure that your stay s a comfortable one.

Lovely hotel, great staff, good food, the most comfortable beds, well-equipped rooms catering for every need, peace and quiet, old-fashioned charm, convenient for a stop off on the way to Scotland. A random choice on our way to Skye. A deliberate choice on our way back. Just don't tell everyone or there'll be no room for us next year.

My husband and I stayed at Farlam Hall over the Easter break and found it to be a great hotel. The staff treat you as a house guest and cannot do enough for you. I wound not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and look forward to returning again.

Farlam Hall is a typical English country-house hotel. A pleasant house det in attractive grounds with comfortable public rooms and excellent bedrooms. The hotel is family-run so the sevice is warm and efficient.
An outstanding feature is the food which is quite superb. There is an extensive wine-list, but the mark-up is less than many similar establishments which means you can drink well without breaking the bank.
Overall a lovely place to stay

We were staying nearby at a Landmark Trust property but decided to treat ourselves on the Saturday with dinner at Farlam Hall - and what a treat it was!

We arrived in the snow and there was a warm welcome, not only from our hosts, but from the log fire in the lounge.

Our dinner was perfect and the roast guinea fowl beautfully cooked. I cannot recommend this place too highly.

Service, Quality and great attention to detail.
