Stayed one night here but never again! On entering we noticed a strong stale smell of cooking . Our hostess informed us that we had to have breakfast at either 7.30 or 8.00 the following morning as she had a lot of people and we would have to wait. Rather surprised as we had just arrived we reluctantly agreed and were shown inot our room, basic but comfortable. However the ensuite shower was full of mould and the toilet was difficult to flush. Brampton seemed to be closed the wine bar was full and the pubs were not serving food. So we went into Carlisle for a meal so getting back to Brampton at about 11.00 in the evening. The following morning my husband went down at 8.00 to enquire if we could have breakfast a little later and said we did not mind waiting for others to finish as it was Bank Holiday Sunday. The response was a resounding negative we either ate at 8.00 on the dot or had nothing. i was still getting up and could not make it for exactly 8.00The landlady had Church . Sunday was her busiest day. It appeared a large table had been set for non residents . Bearing in mind we had paid in advance we had to leave with neither food nor drink. Having just enjoyed a short touring holiday in Northern England and having experienced nothing but charm and hospitality in other Bed and breakfast establishments this rather ruined the end of our break.
