I recently visited Jodrell Bank with my husband and 13 yr old Grandson. The centre is located in a beautiful spot in Cheshire. I was pleased to find a large carpark with no extra charge. We went on a weekday while my son was on half term break. Unfortunately it was not considered half term at the centre until the following week, this meant that there were limited activities going on while we were there and there were school parties there who were given priority. We found the information available very interesting. The telescope itself is huge and a great sight to behold. What we found disappointing was that there was no opportunity to see the control room and the scientists at work. I'm sure that some kind of viewing area could be provided. We did not walk in the garden due to inclement weather. We did visit the Cafe. We had drinks and a snack, we found it to be a pleasant experience and easy on the purse. Overall we felt it was value for money but would like to see more attention given to visitors not in school parties. There was a gift shop which sold souvenirs and some very good books and sky maps, again I felt these items were also reasonably priced. My grandson loved the experience but he also thought there would be morevto see and do.
