“Roaches Hall Magic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 29, 2013

We had an amazing time at Roaches Hall. It is a fabulous property with stunning views from all sides. The living room and dining room were perfect for our party. The Party Houses team were most supportive before the event and flexible in terms of the number of infants staying as long as they provided their own travel cots which really helped. We used the recommended caterer and were very pleased with the friendly service he provided. To make the most of the dining room's capacity we also hired both cottages at Roaches tea rooms at the bottom of the drive. The weekend we attended was very snowy and it was challenging to get up the drive after dark when the temperature dropped unless you had a four by four, so if hiring this property in winter aim to get there in daylight. We hope to be back again if we can think of another excuse to hold a party!

I organised a surprise 40th birthday for my fiance at Roaches Hall with a group of 27 friends. The whole weekend exceeded all my expectations. The kitchen was well equiped - with not only plenty of glasses, two dishwashers!! Rooms were good, some more basic than others, but all adequate for our needs. Importantly there were plenty of bathrooms so no queues in the mornings. The large lounge was just lovely and perfect for all of us to get together at the end of the day (and into the early hours)! A piano in the lounge would be a great addition, although we brought our own guitars for those late night singalongs and being off the beaten track, there were no issues with disturbing the neighbours! Being able to walk out straight onto a public footpath and be at the top of the Roaches within minutes was a great addition too!

Room Tip: Lots of choice - from a beautiful four-poster room, to a round bed in the turret. No bad rooms, alt...

31 ladies spent a week together in what can only be classed as very comfortable. Hamps Hall and Barn is large, numerous bathrooms including en suite, large comfortable bedrooms, well equiped kitchens, with lots of living space to get lost in and most of all very very clean.

We held a big family party to celebrate our Ruby wedding anniversary at Hamps hall and barn. There were 38 of us and the place was just perfect. Plenty of bathrooms and lounges and places for people to either get together or find a quiet corner when the noise got too much. The kitchens were well equipped and the giant lounge was just lovely. There were no glitches apart from the televisions not working but I considered that to be an advantage!

A great place - highly recommend.

I've just got back from my stay at Merrymeet and had an absolutely amazing time!

The house was more than big enough for a party of 14 and we all were so impressed with all the facilities at the house. It was beyond the expectations we had of the property and we couldn't have been any happier with our stay - so much so that we are planning to come and stay again soon!

Everything was made even more perfect by the incredible views surrounding the house! Can't wait to go again!

Have just returned from a weekend at Chels Barn....having stayed in many properties before would definately say that you can get a much nicer and cleaner property for less money elsewhere. The standard of property and cleanliness is not reflected in the price. There was previous guests food particles under the beds, bottle tops behind furniture and general dirt under the furniture in the rooms as well as leather sofa that could do with a good clean. The hi-fi system in the lounge did not work and the dvd/tv system was the most difficult i have ever seen! We could get the tv to work with sound but dvd's and cd's with no sound..disaster for a partyhouse! The garden is really poor with a higgledy piggledy piece of unkept garden and 2 pub beer garden benches...no parasols or other garden furniture. Oh and the dining and kitchen pub/social club chairs and tables were a real treat!!! You really could get better for your money

For my 30th Birthday I wanted to do something big and so got 19 of my friends from all around the country to join me in the Toft Hall. We had a great time. For less than £150 a head for three nights accomodation we could not have been happier. The kitchen was very well-equiped and while the furnishings may not be 5*, they certainly are a perfect fit for the price you pay and the fact that this is sold as a party house.

The house has a large games room just off the kitchen which we were able to effectively convert into a private nightclub each evening. The walls are about 2ft thick so no worry about upsetting anyone with the music.

The bedrooms on the third floor have tiny doors, but again this is a party house, not a 5* guesthouse.

Fianlly, one of the key advantages for me was having a dining table large enough for all my guests to fit around. This meant we all enjoyed the meal which we all helped to cook in the super large kitchen.

My friends are now all discussing how they will top our weekend for their 30th. Overall this is a great place to let your hair down with a large groups of friends. I would certainly use Partyhouses again if arraning another such event.

Room Tip: The master bedrom is lovely with great views over the rolling countryside.
