“Had a fantastic stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Stayed here for 1 nite and found nothing to complain about. We were made feel really welcome right from the start. Room was really big with a lovely comfy sofa as well as the double bed. Beautiful views across the marina. The place could do with a lick of paint but that didnt bother us. Big bottle of wine £7.95 done just the job 2 sit out in the huge beer garden. Will definitly come back here.
Well done the Windsor & all the staff. See u soon.

This particular booking had been for 4 double rooms. When the group of 7 middle-aged males arrived the manager politely enquired if the booking was to be for double or twin-bedded rooms. It was then revealed to her that this was a stag party and that twin bedded rooms were required. While amending the booking there was gentle banter between the manager and some of the group that stag/hen parties of all ages can sometimes be "troublesome". She pointed out that most hotels and B&B's refuse to accept bookings for stag/hen parties. Manager is disappointed that this group has taken umbrage at her comments because her intention was simply to explain the hotel's policy regarding such groups: a member of the party to be nominated as the person in charge with whom we can liaise in the event of trouble/injury or complaints from other guests and allocating rooms to avoid the risk of other guests being disturbed by the "antics" associated with stag/hen parties.
We are delighted that the group enjoyed their lunch and the service received from the staff. Like them, we look forward to the recently granted planning permission for a new state of the art hotel coming to fruition.

The hotel is dated, the room was ok. The staff were very good and the food was good, but bit pricey for what was on offer. If your looking for a cheap, fun weekend this is the place, but dont expect to much.

Myself and my boyfriend went for a two night break to the royal/Windsor in July. At only 50 per person for 2 nights we had expected it to be quite basic but when we arrived we were qute pleasantly suprised. We were led to our room and helped with our bags, and the room, although dated, was comfortable, spacious and very clean. The bathroom was very small but again very clean and for the price you cannot expect a jacuzzi or anything! The room was lovely and warm and the central heating was turned on in the evening, tv, kettle, hairdryer etc all worked well. Bed was reasonably comfortable, my partner has a bad back and even he was able to sleep in it fine. The bar was cosy and atmospheric, we were there midweek so not many about but the staff were very friendly, made lots of conversation with us and despite the lack of customers it was great craic! Breakfast did leave a lot to be desired as only bacon sausages and eggs available in the hot selection but there were boxes of Kelloggs cereal, yoghurts, fruit juice, toast etc available so we were able to still get something. Again u can't expect gourmet cuisine for such a great price! Lift worked perfectly and corridors etc were spotless. We were so impressed overall that we have booked to return for a 3 night break at halloween, yes, this hotel has its faults, but its affordable, clean, and the staff would do anything for you! I would recommend it!

Were just back from a four day break at this hotel trip adviser seems to be full of bad reviews about this old style of hotel, well for us the staff were fantastic, the food first rate, the location amazing on your doorstep was the marina and all pubs you could ever need and the bar open for residents late till dawn, OK so the rooms are a bit dated,,,!!!! so what your in a great place so book up and enjoy your self like we did.....

Room Tip: Get a room with a sea view,,,

You would actually think you'd fallen asleep in 2012 and woken up in 1950...what a joke, up 4 floors - no lift, grubby carpets & decor, rooms was ok, clean enough but at the back so didnt even get the view. The breakfast room what a joke, dated furniture, grubby, one of us doesnt like Tea or coffee, you got any Fruit tea, Herbal Tea? No, any brown bread? (irish bread is amazing) No, any margarine (they did have butter)? No, no veggie option except eggs, Coffee was cold as was the food. They are supposedly refurbishing and have closed down part of the hotel but there didnt appear to be any work going on when we were there, they should shut down the whole building while they're carrying out the refurb, Avoid this place if you can.

I am pleased to announce that our passenger lift is re-instated giving access to all bedroom floors. Breakfast, while still a hot and cold self -service buffet, has been improved. We continue to give excellent value for money.
