“Recently Modernized Small Town Center Play Park - Great For Kids, Though Very Expensive! Free WI-FI”
The Pickie Fun Park was our choice as a family as a change from the beach during the recent hot weather in July 2013.
Situated on the seafront in bangor with free car parking available within a short walk it seems very popular and obviously the local council have spent a lot of money to re-vamp the park. The whole finish is of a high standard & modern and kept very tidy with no litter or graffiti (yet).
The various attractions include:
The Pickie Swans - Large pedalo birds with 2 sizes to choose from, hard to steer and weighing in at £4.50 for 15 mins.
Kids Electric Cars - Kids only and £2.50 for 5 mins.
Pickie Puffer Train - A good way to see the whole park and the little ones love it, Adult £2.00 & Kids £1.50 per journey.
Pickie Mini Golf - Looks good, Adult £4.50 & Kids at £3.00 per 18 hole round.
Water Walkers - ‘Zorbs’ in shallow pool, Kids only £4.00 for 5 mins.
Water / Splash Play Area - Great fun with water jets shooting up from the ground whilst the kids run through and FREE (Changing Booths on Site)
As you can see from the above prices it could work out quite expensive for a family day there, even if you make use of the family discount tickets which offer various ‘combo’ deals for the attractions.
There is a small cafe on site with an example price of £3.95 for a kids meal which includes sausage / fish fingers etc with fries and a drink, i suppose thats not too bad a price. Candy Floss is also available along with ice cream. Can’t comment on quality of food as we did not avail of this service.
They have a good website for this attraction and FREE WI-FI is available (also along the town centre in Bangor, a nice touch)
I have given Pickie Park the benefit of the doubt and marked it as 4 out of 5, i considered a 3 due to high prices and the clientele, though i suppose the local council would not encourage everyone to put on 10 stone and get some tattoos before visiting.
Well worth a try for a day out.
