“Ok, but predictable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Tried here a few times and although we enjoyed our first visit as it was somewhere different in amongst the plethora of mediocrity that abounds in Bangor's pubs and restaurants, we've been back maybe three times since and to be honest it's no real different to what's on offer everywhere else in the town. You an only dress the food descriptions up so much, but at the end of the day, the food's the same you can can find everywhere else in Bangor. Shame.

“Be Prepared for a Wait ...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2012 via Local Picks

They may have to go to sea to catch your mussels, so be prepared for a bit of a wait if that is what you decide to order. Review the art-deco walls, laugh at a few of the pictures on the walls ... you will have time to do so after placing your order. At the time we arrived, on a Sunday, the place had only a few tables with customers. The wait was not based on the place being busy.

Out of a large order (25-30), I had 6 that were not open. My wife and daughter had about the same success rate.

If you order an appetizer(s), ask for them before the meal. We ordered one (nachos) and they came with the meal. They will give you something to chew on while you wait.

Their special desert, a large sundae, was served in a bowl like a soup. The cold soup had things sprinkled on top but I couldn't tell you what was in the soup. I think of a sundae as ice cream with things sprinkled around the base... and for £8 I was really expecting more than we got.

“Pretty place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 16, 2012

We were there in the afternoon, so I expect this place livens up a bit at night. I really liked the way it was decorated. Gets a star for being nice and funky.

They had a "special" beer, which was a Brewdog Punk IPA (Scottish). So in my mind, they get a star just for having micro-brew regional beers available.

And they make their own hamburgers from scratch, and they are very good indeed. Star for that!

The onion rings were too heavily battered and too greasy. No stars for those.

And also a star for friendly staff.
