Having read some of the reviews on the internet we were somewhat sceptical about staying here; this was overcome within 10 minutes of arriving. We were greeted by what seemed to be the Inn managed who insisted on taking the girlfriend's bags upstairs, describing himself as being 'old-fashioned' He showed us to our room which was comfortable, clean and of a standard B&B room size. The room was definitely clean, well maintained and well decorated. (A day later, we were offered although not forced to accept the sea view room at no extra cost as it had unexpectedly become available, which was accepted!) The only minor thing was at times, parts of the room were a bit creaky, although considering we were staying in a 1729 Inn this wasn't an issue at all.
The full English breakfast was also to be recommended, with cereal and toast also available. The staff were prompt and very helpful, able to cater food to our specific needs. We also had dinner twice in the Inn itself downstairs which not only was incredibly low priced but good quality food too, a lot cheaper than a lot of it's competitors in the area.
The Inn itself is located right in the middle of the village, and you can walk to the station in less than 10 minutes. Trains run once every two hours so you do have to plan your day, however, helpfully it's also located across the road from the Tourist Information centre where you can find times and more. It's again right across the road from the beach/pier.
The Inn has retained its original character downstairs, although this isn't to say the rooms upstairs aren't contemporary and fitting. The staff really were delightful, and the price of the rooms were two-thirds to half of the competitors in the area. We would definitely recommend this B&B.
