“Tea Time Treat”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 17, 2012

I went in at about 16.30 and had the two course special which was £6.95. It was lovely I had pea and mint soup followed by a nice succulent gammon, peas, chunky chips though they were not home made chips but came a close second, two fried eggs and a tomato. Plate size was good as was the presentation. Good choice of guest ales though I thought the beer to be overpriced. The choice on the 2 course special was good and if you did not want the starter you could have the dessert instead. Think the price of the menu increases in the evening to £9.95. Teas and coffees cheap, as was the wine. Service was good and pleasanrt staff. Nice ambience and fires burning so made for a cosy atmosphere, (unlike when it was my old school back in the 70's)! There were other menus as well as the special so something for all I would say. Easy to park and drive out. tables outside so nice sitting out in the summer. Quite big inside so not overcrowded with noise and people as plenty of tables. Would recommend to friends and family. This is an Ember Inn, as is the Tall Ships, but we visited the Tall Ships and it was terrible so it goes to show they are not all the same.

“Business Lunch”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2012

Found this nice bar/restaurant in Hartlepool this week.....Its a Mitchells & Butlers outlet with a large menu , great choices and not your usual 'chips and it' pub lunch. Staff were very professional and helpful. Food was served and presented well, with decent size portions. It was an ideal venue for a quiet business lunch. We normally eat around Hartelpools marina area, this made a pleasant change. Prices were ok, cheaper than expected. Will definately be using in the future.

“Very handy.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2012

Always busy, with good food and plenty of choices. It has a nice atmosphere and in the summer you can sit outside under large sun umbrellas. It has a distinctive holiday feel on a sunny day or evening. This pub is very popular, many people coming in taxis, so there is a bit of a taxi rank outside in the summer!!

“Best Pub In Hartlepool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2012 via mobile

I think this has always been he best pub in the best area of Hartlepool but has lost some of its charm in recent years. I would still recommend for a night out with family or friends. Not sure if I would bother with the food.

“Average pub fayre”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 31, 2012 via mobile

Had an evening meal here. Menu choice looked good, if a little overpriced.
However, the food was bland - the steak was tough, and the meal was served lukewarm. The word lukewarm may well be applied to the level of service.

One pub to avoid if at all possible.
