I went in at about 16.30 and had the two course special which was £6.95. It was lovely I had pea and mint soup followed by a nice succulent gammon, peas, chunky chips though they were not home made chips but came a close second, two fried eggs and a tomato. Plate size was good as was the presentation. Good choice of guest ales though I thought the beer to be overpriced. The choice on the 2 course special was good and if you did not want the starter you could have the dessert instead. Think the price of the menu increases in the evening to £9.95. Teas and coffees cheap, as was the wine. Service was good and pleasanrt staff. Nice ambience and fires burning so made for a cosy atmosphere, (unlike when it was my old school back in the 70's)! There were other menus as well as the special so something for all I would say. Easy to park and drive out. tables outside so nice sitting out in the summer. Quite big inside so not overcrowded with noise and people as plenty of tables. Would recommend to friends and family. This is an Ember Inn, as is the Tall Ships, but we visited the Tall Ships and it was terrible so it goes to show they are not all the same.
