“New attraction at the Bunker”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 30, 2013

What a fascinating, informative and interesting couple of hours well spent at this unique attraction in Old Hartlepool proved to be.
The Heugh Battery has more to offer than just the interesting variety of Big guns etc., check out the newly added exhibition that is a reconstruction of a first world war Bunker depicting what life was like for the British Tommy at war.
There is also in the left annex when exiting the bunker an excellent pictorial and written account of days of war. Well done to the all who were implement in the set up of this new exhibition.

“The Battery”

I took the grankids for a day out and they thoroughly enjoyed the Battery Museum, There was enough working guns and vehicles for them and it kept them interested for a couple of hours. Well worth a trip .

“Yuff....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013

We were there on Sat 23rd March - freezing cold and very windy. We just happened to park outside and saw the cafe sign, so went in. We were directed through the entrance exhibit area into a yard with military vehicles etc and to the cafe. The cafe only had tea and 'tea cakes' left - good, because that's just what we wanted. Very friendly staff in there.

We didn't have much time to spend in the exhibition itself, but enjoyed the informative film. It was interesting to hear the different pronunciations of the Heugh - Yuff (correct) to He Off.

On the way out we saw a notice about entry fees on the gate (£5 for adults). Ooops, had we blagged our way in then? Sorry if we had. We'll be back, with a bit more time, and pay if we are supposed to.

The whole place seems well done with a lot of interesting items. Its a lot better than the derelict place it was 40 years ago when I was last there.

“Very interesting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 23, 2013

Unfortunately it was blowing a gale and freezing cold the morning we went so did not spend too much time outside where there is lots to see. The staff are very well informed and the exhibitions good. The Trench was an eye opener - we have a lot to thank our soldiers for during WW1 and WW2. Anyone with an interest in the war would find this enlightening.
