We had such a good meal at Aspect it has moved me to start writing TripAdvisor reviews! As a local i can say Morecambe really struggles for decent places to eat and drink so we came here hoping for the best on the basis of the excellent reviews, but prepared to be disappointed.
On entering we were amazed at the quality of the decor. It is obvious that a great deal of time and money has been invested here and it's paid off. As a local i am thrilled someone is finally bothering to invest in this town instead of just throwing open their doors as other restaurants round here seem to do expecting customers to keep coming in when their menus and decor have not altered since 1983!
Although not much to look at on the outside, Aspects interior is modern yet comfortable. We ate here with my parents and they also loved the decor so it is obviously well designed to appeal across age ranges which was born out by the mix of couples, young singles and older diners.
We where seated at a table in the window with fabulous views of the sunset over Morecambe Bay which was truly beautiful and an experience in itself. Other diners and guests where breaking off from their meals to take pictures of the view it was so picturesque. Definitely a good spot for a romantic meal. I have lived in this area all my life and no one with a soul could tire of this view and because of the additional height as Aspect is on the first floor, you really do get the best views of the bay that I've ever had.
Aside from the view, this is a restaurant after all! The food was truly fabulous. As a couple in our 30s other than places like the Honey Tree and Curry Leaf we don't tend to eat in Morecambe. We find that the main eateries are generally a little too stuck in the past for our liking. Aspect has turned this perception on it's head. I had a sirloin steak, rare cooked to perfection and my husband had venison with a chocolate sauce which sounds strange but was delicious. It's great to see a place round here doing such inventive and original food. My parents had a range of tapas dishes which we also pecked at. The tapas selection is a great idea including your typical Spanish style dishes, English treats such as potted shrimp and yummy lamb Koftas. For dessert i had an Apple Crumble with Lancashire cheese ice cream which was gorgeous.
Throughout the meal the service was great, there was always someone on hand to refresh our glasses without being over bearing. And price wise, you get what you pay for and this was very reasonably priced for such high quality food. Including drinks we spent around £25 per head.
Aspect would not be out of place in Manchester or London and I'm so pleased here is finally a decent spot to eat in this area. We'll also have to pop back in for drinks as the cocktail list looked rather inviting.
