“Worst italian meal I have ever had and service to match”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Service was awful. We were a table of three and meals were served 10 minutes apart. Atmosphere non existent and manager who clearly doesn't want the restaurant to be a success. Starters were fine but then the problems started. Two pasta dishes like soup more akin to dish water. When we complained we were advised by the owner that it was the way the dish was supposed to be and that it could be taken away and strained!! The next suggestion she made (twice) was to add more cheese. The next suggestion was that it was the way I ate my pasta that was the problem!!

The waiting staff advised its always like this and the owner doesn't take well to being challenged. We were then told the owner doesn't even allow the staff to keep their tips. Clearly not a place I'd like to work!! We asked what deserts were like to be told 'they come from a can'!!

When we got the bill, I advised that I wouldn't be paying for my tasteless meal. None of our three main courses were enjoyable. The response of the manager was 'It's another one of those tables'. I felt it appropriate to let the manager know that I didn't appreciate her attitude, which resulted in almost a full blown argument, in front of other guests I hasten to add.

If you want a fawlty towers experience, this really is a good example. As for a quality dining experience, it is not!!

“Fab Food & Service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

Spotted L'Amico whilst out walking so decided to try it and we are very glad we did. Very warm welome and made to feel like friends. It was a Wednesday night so it was quiet but still a lovely atmosphere. The service was fast but we never felt rushed. The pizzas are excellent, best we have had in a long time. Can't wait to return. Thank you.

“Easily the best steak in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

Ate at L'Amico last night (Fri 5 Apr 13). The starters (chicken livers in Madeira sauce "special" and Green Lipped Mussels) were both well presented and very tasty

We then both chose fillet steak (one Rossini and one with a creamy peppercorn sauce) and were blown away with the size, quality and perfect cooking of these. Fillet steaks cooked like this are hard to come by and the accompanying vegetables were well seasoned and extremely well cooked

Washed down with a good Chianti, and ending with coffee and brandy, it was a great meal from start to finish

Well done L'Amico - we will definitely be back. And we have already recommended you to our friends and family

“Greatest pizza.....great welcome!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2013 via mobile

A proper Italian restaurant. Small and family run. They really take care of you and you feel like a friend from the moment you arrive!
We had freshly made pizza .... Excellent in every detail and the calzone was to die for!
Simply the best!
