“Delightful Christmas treat, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

We stayed for the four night Xmas package and had an amazing time.
The hotel has a perfect location with stunning views of the bay from the restaurant (and sea view bedrooms) we stayed with our dog as the hotel welcomes dogs too and walking on the beach each day was fab (even with December weather)
The hotel is an amazing example of art deco architecture and has been refurbed in keeping with it's history ( concierge Brian gives tours explaining the history too which is fascinating). The only thing I didn't really like is the toilet hidden behind an extra door/ wall that folds out to shut the bathroom if you want to use it - basically because it wasn't remotely 'sound proof' but I suppose that depends who you're with!
The Xmas package involved lots of brilliant activities like quizzes, ready steady cook and professional murder mystery night but you don't have to take part if you'd rather take a stroll up to Eric Morecambe statue or tour round the historic theatre currently under restoration (Xmas guests of the Midland were treated to a private tour on boxing day!)

Proper Lancashire service from the brilliant team, and Lancashire size food portions!! (10 course tasting menu defeated most of us but was incredible)

Would highly recommend

This Art Deco icon which overlooks Morecambe Bay, looks like the bridge of the Queen Mary as you approach along Marine Road. We were greeted at reception by friendly and curteous staff & settled into our room on the second floor overlooking the bay. The room had its own private balcony with a large double bed & full on-suite facilities - drench shower, heated bathroom mirror, large sink, together with toilet and a good size wardrobe ( all built into a single block )
The room also had the bonus of two comfortable chairs & a small table, plus ironing board, iron & hair drier.
A walk along the corridor to the magnificent cantilever staircase, which finished adjacent to the main entrance, only lead to enhance the feeling of being on a large liner straight from the 1930's.
If you are an Art Deco lover, or even just mildly interested, this hotel is a must see & must stay place. The four days we spent there over this New Year period, were the best we have ever experienced in England.
The restaurant overlooks the bay with huge glass windows that allow you to watch the world go by as people pass by on the promenade. The food was exceptional, appeared quickly & was served on hot plates & beautifully presented. All this happens to a background of discrete period music - so jazz, big band, crooners, swing lovers will be well happy.
We booked this four day package in February 2012 & had spent all year looking forwards to the trip. We were not disappointed as there was something organised everyday for us to join in with, including dance lessons to learn the Charleston & swing dances so we could be strutting our stuff on New Year's Eve. A period style band + disco kept us on our feet all night. There was also a treasure hunt, Ready Steady Cook afternoon & Murder Mistery night all included.
A good tip , bring warm clothes as it can be bitterly cold in the strong winds. They say "Skegness is bracing" but this place runs a close second !!!

To conclude, we were very sad to leave on the morning of January 2nd after a heart breakfast & would definitely return.

Room Tip: Bay side rooms are the best as the other side overlooks the car park. Large suites are available on...

My wife and I recently visited the Midland for a second time. In recent years the prices have reduced substantially, but the service has not. Not the cheapest establishment we have ever visited, but still excellent value for money.

It is a very relaxing experience, with a superb view across the Bay.

Just come back from a three night New Year stay at The Midland Morecambe. (We last stayed for one night between Christmas and the New Year in 2011). Now a lot of time on Trip Adviser people seem to get a little carried away with the scores that they can give (In my opinion), However in my opinion the 5* rating here really is fully warranted. We were treated as welcome guests in all ways, by all the staff (Local staff as well...something of a rarity!) and nothing was too much trouble for any member of the team. The food was excellent and plentiful (Food wise it was something like a high end cruise ship that didn't move anywhere!). There was also lots of GOOD quality and tasteful entertainment provided within the package. Rooms are not massive in the hotel, but they are very well designed, and as noted elsewhere the hotel has been very carefully restored to keep its Art Deco style and flavour. The minor issues we had with the hotel last time we visited (Minor house keeping issues), have seemingly been acted on, and without getting too gushing here, I am struggling to think of a better hotel that I have stayed at in the UK. Excellent work by everyone in the hotel...........our three day break really was something quite special. We will of course be back soon!

This was our 5th Christmas stay at The Midland, and every year it seems to get better. Nothing is too much trouble for any of the staff, and we are always warmly welcomed. Our connecting sea view rooms are fabulous, and the food is always of a very high standard. We have already booked for next Christmas!

Room Tip: Go for a sea view with the Lake District as a backdrop.

My fiancé and I stayed at The Midland in Morecambe on 28th December as a Christmas treat ahead of our September wedding at the hotel.

Check in was really efficient and the lady at reception was really friendly and helpful. The reception area really is spectacular and I literally can't wait to walk down that staircase on my wedding day!

We were in room 108 on the first floor and have a balcony overlooking Morecambe bay. The room was spotless and really spacious - as has been mentioned before, the storage and bathroom space is genius!

We both slept well - the beds were really comfy and we heard no noise from outside our room.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant with tables set to look out over the beach and the bay - a fantastic morning view! Breakfast offers a selection of cereals, pastries, fruit and breads to start and a cooked breakfast made to order (with choices from full English down to eggs benedict). My fiance had scrambled eggs on toast and I had the full veggie breakfast which was perfect! Again the staff at breakfast were friendly and helpful and served everything with a smile.

Check out was quick and simple, again with really friendly staff.

All in all the perfect break between Christmas and New Year to get us both excited about September - thank you to all the staff working whilst we were visiting and to Vicky Cruse, our wedding planner, for helping us book our stay and being an all round star!

We had a celebratory lunch here over the chrismas holidays and were given a table in an otherwise empty restaurant. You would be mistaken however if you were to conclude that led to attentive service, which sadly was not the case. That said, the menu had a variety of delicious options and was excellent value at around £15 for 2 courses. The hotel itself shines like a beacon in the otherwise dour Morecombe and commands excellent views of the bay: I highly recommend popping in if you have the chance and sampling the locally sourced potted shrimps before walking along the water.

Thank you for your review of your visit to The Midland for Christmas lunch.
I was sorry to read that, whilst your experience was generally positive, your impression was of a lack of attention from the restauarnt team.
I will of course share your comments with the team and apologise for any dissatisfaction caused.
