“Maintaining standards”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

The staff are so friendly here, and all do their jobs really well. There just seems to be a high level of dedication and customer care. The fare is as expected. Botham's have been in business for a long time and I have often visited their Whitby premises. The coffee is good, the scones are good and the pork pies leave the competition well behind. Elizabeth Botham's tea rooms in Pickering are worth visiting but be aware at the height of the season, when the North Yorkshire Moors Railway is in full swing (opposite) you may not easily get a table. This of course spells success, so be patient and wait because it is well worth it.

“Like going back in time.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

This place was a great find. We were looking for a light lunch in Pickering, and this was just the ticket. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed great service and delicious food. The flavours served here are fantastic. I would recommend the Ploughman's platter. The Resolution Tea is also delicious - so creamy tasting. The waitresses all wear flowery dresses and are so polite and pleasant. It is quite a busy place, so be prepared to wait a little around lunch time. It is, however, well worth the wait!

“Old fashioned charm and service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Nearly as good as Betty's! A wonderful experience with good old fashioned service and excellent cream teas! We sat in the garden and enjoyed the peaceful outdoor setting. There is not much space inside so I hope they may be able to expand one dayl

“Delightful traditional tea room serving excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

We found this little tea room by chance, as we often do, and had a lovely afternoon tea. The tea room itself is only small but the service was excellent and the food delicious. The ploughmans salad was huge! A plateful of salad, chunks of cheese and a generous serving of ham, plus chutney, coleslaw, potato salad and two chunky slices of bread. Really tasty and quite filling. My husband chose the afternoon tea which came on a cake stand and consisted of sandwiches, a cream tea (scones, jam and clotted cream) and a selection of little cakes. Good value as it came with a coffee or tea as well. Again this was really tasty. We really liked it here and would definitely return.
