“Beautiful experience!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013 via mobile

The Old Mill, was beautiful, the owner went out of her way to make us feel at home! She was extremely helpful before and during our trip! I can't wait to go back! Thanks for the wonderful stay! The rooms were immaculate, breakfast yummy and the endless patience of the owner, particularly with my toddler who was running round causing havoc everywhere!

My wife and I were looking for a place to stay in Stirling so we could make day-trips to places like Glasgow and St. Andrews. We couldn't have chosen better than the Old Mill. I've stayed in many B&Bs in the UK over the years, and I've never had as good an experience as this. Trish and her family are perfect hosts, offering a hospitality that is both effortless and welcome. Even their beautiful Persian cat Shiraz will visit your room if you let her. Every time we entered the house, Trish would offer us a cup of her delicious espresso and steamed milk, or (at night) a glass of wine or "wee whiskey." Treats and fresh fruit would appear in our room without asking. The breakfasts were delicious, and upon hearing I don't eat pork, Trish would serve me smoked salmon (2 ways) with my perfectly poached eggs. But what is most amazing is the location and scenery. The building is an old mill set on the Forth river. Our short walk each morning to a park and ride bus (only 60 p each way) to the center of Stirling offered breathtaking views of the hills, Wallace Monument, and Stirling Castle. We passed people fishing for salmon at morning and evening as we returned. The location was just remote enough to feel like you're in the country, and close enough to town and Bus and Rail stations. Finally, while the house is quite old, it's been extensively renovated and decorated for a modern feel. It is comfortable and clean not creaky, cluttered, kitchy, or dirty. While we had an ensuite room, but those rooms without bathrooms have access to bathroom that is pure luxury, sporting a sauna and large clawfoot tub. We will never forget our walks along the river with the dramatic clouds and sunsets. Even stepping out into their beautiful garden will make you smile. Most of all, we'll never forget Trish and her family and are planning to return for at least a night (if not more) next year. This place is a gem---a well-kept secret and a must-visit if you're in Scotland.

I stayed at the Old Mill with my wife and some friend back in June. We enjoyed a fantastic weekend of fishing on the river forth with the Old Mill's fishing permits that were available and walking in the Trossachs that on the doorstep of the Old Mill as well.

Trish and Bryan made us all feel more than welcome by putting on a BBQ for us both nights because weather was so good. It's a shame I couldn't rate the food here as well because the Old Mill would be getting top marks for this as well!

We'll all be visiting the Old Mill again this winter as a base for when we go up north snowboarding. I'd recommend anyone to visit the Old Mill at least once!

A fantastic weekend spent at the Old Mill in Stirling. The guest house owners really made us feel at home. Beautiful interiors and stunning views of Stirling Castle and The Wallace Monument. The highlight was definitely our first time fishing on the River Forth with the complimentary Fishing permits provided by The Old Mill for one of Scotland's best rivers for Salmon fishing! Big Thanks for our memorable visit!

Had a excellent two night stay last month. Beautiful location right on the river and the grounds we're great to sit in on the warm summer evenings. The house itself is charming and the warm, friendly service was second to none. A really special place.

I also loved the Old Mill with it's charming decor and rustic riverside feel on the River Forth. Great central setting for visiting rural Scotland. We had been touring the West Highlands and stopped there on the way down south. The food was wonderful and the female owner is an inspiring chef. The crusty old male caretaker was very helpful with the luggage.

Room Tip: The lodge next door is very private!
