“Wonderful tea and scones!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2013

We stopped at this little coffee house/cafe on the recommendation of TripAdvisor reviewers and are happy that we did. I had a pot of tea and a scone with chantilly cream and jam and my daughter had a pot of tea and one of the specials--a chicken, tomato and pesto sandwich on toasted ciabatta bread. The sandwich came with a small salad. All the food was delicious (the scone was truly superb) and the customer service was wonderful. The prices are extremely reasonable. The total for our lunch was eleven pounds. The location is also very nice and it is right on the way down the hill from the Castle. We greatly enjoyed this little gem!

“Great little lunch stop in the old town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 25, 2013 via mobile

On a very cold day, walking from the town centre, to the castle, we found this little gem. A quick look on Trip Advisor convinced us to stop for lunch. First impressions were, quaint enough but with a limited menu. Both OH and I had one of the soups of the day (spicy chickpea) which was delicious and plentiful. Comes in a cup or a bowl, with or without bread. Seem to recall you could also have it with a salad. We just had unaccompanied soup as we knew we were going to have a sandwich as well. (No breakfast!) I had the tuna/mayo and onion toastie, my OH had the mature cheddar one, both served on brown bread and with a side salad. As we were eating our toasties both of us said that they were the best toasties we had ever had. I am not suprised that other reviewers have also said the same thing. Thin slices but big in size, generous filling. You can have the toastie with salad or crisps but we would recommend the salad. Big in size, very fresh and full of flavour. Those two courses plus coffee came to £20. (Coffee comes with a free refill, in fact we were offered 2 refills!) Really friendly service too. This could easily be an indifferent and over priced place due to its location in a high tourist area but it is the reverse. If you are in Stirling and want a high quality but inexpensive lunch, this is the place for you. Well done to the owners.

“No1 lunch spot.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013 via mobile

Saunter down the hill from the castle and you will find the best venue for lunch! Toastie was massive so was the accompanying salad (to call it a side salad is an insult, it's huge) soup was also delicious! Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is very quaint.

“Couldn't be better”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013 via mobile

Today I had the best toastie I have ever eaten. And I have eaten a few in my life.
And it came with salad. A nice salad, made with care. With a proper, home-made mustardy French dressing. And the guy who served us was really charming and made us feel like regulars. And the other customers seemed nice. We weren't expecting anything special. Got a surprise.
