“Your average, precooked and reheated food”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

The Jack Fairman is a Weatherspoons pub, and as such you need not have any high hopes for it. The Booze is well priced, but the food and service are not good at all. We were a party of 8 and none of us liked the food, particularly the rubbery Burgers. You have to queue up to get served at the bar to place orders for food too, and the Bar staff seemed as if they didn’t have much clue as to serve the public. But you get what you pay for in a Pub chain of this calibre. However they do have a great Weatherspoons in Epsom (sadly I cannot remember the name), and that has a different menu altogether. Not a place you would go for a meal out more for a snack and a pint.

“Nice light pub - good service and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Very nice high street pub, comfortable, really light with the large windows along the front so you watch the world go by. Good service and value.

“Good value for money”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The Jack Fairman is a large establishment which seems to attract rather a lot of scruffy, down and outs who are attracted by the very reasonably priced drinks.
The appalling music which is playing all the time is unnecessary and unwelcome.
It seems odd to have the music blaring out with the TV on without the volume.
Food service is quick and efficient however all meals I have had in the Jack Fairman are always served on cold plates.
On the plus side the beer choice is usually good but above all the Jack Fairman represents good value for money.
Decor is a bit drab and gloomy the place could do with a refurbishment.

“Great location - roomy, comfortable & great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013 via mobile

We eat at the Horley 'Jack Fairmens' regularly as live local. It has a great menu which cater for everyone & even includes calorie count on all menu items which is bonus. The venue has great layout with a variety of sofa seats, traditional tables & more private seating areas. They include free wifi for Internet which is such a nice bonus. The service is semi self service, order at bar then food delivered to your table - services is quick (typically 5mins from placing order to table). Quantity of food is generous but value is excellent & coffee is very good - worth going for coffee alone. It's a family place & casual so can pop in, eat & drink with no pressure.
We really like everything and for 'fast food' at reasonable price where you an relax - cant be beaten.
I feel only negative would be can fill with noisy kids who can run around (& also noted by other reviewers). Also, no easy or customer parking so if driving need to use NcP.
Overall - great menu, great value & relaxing atmosphere with fast service.

“One of the better Wetherspoons”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 16, 2013

I've spent a lot of time in here over the last 5 years, which probably tells you all you need to know! It's definitely one of the better Wetherspoons establishments in the chain. The environment isn't the all-too-typical long narrow box for a start - the Jack Fairman is almost triangular actually, with a large frontal area allowing views of the outside from pretty much everywhere, and separate zones ranging from intimate booths to big round tables for full-on banter. It all makes for a nice atmosphere.

But best of all, for me, they almost always have enough staff behind the bar (a feature sadly lacking in many Wetherspoons in my experience) so I very rarely have to wait too long to get served. They're almost all bright and cheerful too.

Food is acceptable (and usually very quickly done). I've had some exceptionally good feeds here over time (especially on the Tuesday grill nights), but also experienced some misses. Generally, though, eating here will be worthwhile.

The only downside for me is that, as is typical in UK pubs these days, the tables don't get wiped down often enough after glasses and plates have been collected. Some table surfaces do get a bit manky.
