We stayed at this hotel for one night with 8 days parking. We decided to book here as parking was on site at the hotel and it would be easier for us - travelling 4 adults and 14 month old baby.
Well.....when we got there we could hardly get into the front entrance of the hotel as cars were parked absolutely everywhere - grass verges, on the street outside hotel, it looked like a car scrap heap! We were slightly concerned as we had just bought our brand new car a few weeks back and didn't like the look of how cars had been parked all over the place.
Anyways they advised the parking had been overbooked and some cars would have to be parked elsewhere, so we had to hand in our keys for them to park it somewhere (not sure where?!)

Once we arrived in our rooms they looked adequate enough for one night stay - spacious and clean. However if you are thinking of bringing baby you will have to bring a mattress as my baby was supposed to sleep in a cot without one!!!! Her cot was so hard we had to put our top quilt from our bed inside. This proved to be ridiculous and we complained. They simply said they do not have mattresses!! Great so that night our daughter slept in our bed - no sleep for us then as any parent would know sleeping with their child!!!!

The last straw is when we came back to collect our car after being in a delay we just wanted to get our car and come home. We waited for over an hour for them to "find" our car at which time we heard a bus ram raiding a parked car as the bus could not get through!!!!! It was only a one year old Audi - we now were really worried about our car at this time!!! We just wanted it in one piece!!
After an hour of waiting they did find it but our car was covered in so much tree sap and all sorts it was absolutely disgusting!!!

Rating the hotel as a one star is being kind as this is supposed to be a four!!! Ha ha ha no way!!! I will never stay in this hotel again and would certainly not recommend it to anyone!!

Booked the Mercure when researching airport parking as it actually cost less to stay here for 1 night & park the car for 15 nights than just parking for 14 nights.
Found the hotel really easily - just follow the signs for Mercure/Renaissance from Gatwick. Parking was no problem, there were still plenty of spaces at 16:00. Got checked in very quickly & were even offered a 'bell hop' to take the bags to our room.
We went out for dinner so can't comment on the food although we did think the room service menu was over-priced (£12.50 for a burger).
We had an early flight & had to be at the airport for 03:00 so we set the alarm & went to bed early. We weren't disturbed by any noise from the airport or other rooms, in fact I had the best nights sleep in a long time!
We made it downstairs for 02:45 & a bus turned up approx 5 mins later & we were taken straight to Gatwick South in plenty of time for check in. All in all a good one night stay & we'll be staying again the next time we go away.

We stayed at this hotel the night before our flight to mexico for our honeymoon. The hotel was great and had everything we needed. The bedroom was spacious and modern. We had food in the bar as the restaurant was not open until later. The meal was very tasty and good value. We left our car and keys in the hotel for a fortnight and the car was moved ready for our return. The airport bus runs regularly and is only a 5min journey. I can highly recommend this hotel, it was a great start to our honeymoon!

We booked the Mercure Hotel at Gatwick for the night before we flew out to Cuba - we were impressed with the cost - £99 for a nights stay and 9 days parking on site.

The hotel is very convenient being only 5 or so minutes from the airport - transfers operate every 15 minutes (but goes down to every 30 minutes between midnight and 5.30am). It costs £3 per person each way for the transfer - although on most internet sites this was advertised as £2.50 - so make sure you have enough change.

It is quite chaotic to park there - when we got to the hotel it was dark and initially seemed very hard to find a space - most of the car park is up on grass where the staff move the cars to for the duration of your holiday so they are tightly packed in - this confused us as it wasn't really clear where you parked yourself - and the reception staff weren't overly clear either. However we did find a space quite easily once we were directed in the right area.

The room was large and comfortable - however the air conditioning was so loud that we couldn't sleep with it on and due to the proximity of the airport we couldn't have the windows open. Despite this the bed was very comfortable and we slept very well.

Exiting the hotel car park was very straightforward and our car had been moved into a sensible location for us to leave the site easily and getting our keys back was very quick. Unfortunately at the airport it is quite confusing - there is only one hotel transfer bus stop but several different bus numbers so everyone stands in one massive group and has to push their way through all the other travellers when their bus arrives - and the airport transfers back to the hotel are not always as punctual as they should be.

We were only there from 9pm until 6.20am so I can't really comment on the other aspects of the hotel - however the communal areas looked quite nice and comfortable and the food smelt very good!

  • Liked — The convenience and being able to get a good nights sleep before a flight and not having to get up at 2am!!
  • Disliked — The noisy air conditioning

Beware those who are considering parking at this hotel. We booked an eight day stay (overnight for early flight). On return we found they had moved our car as they said they might. While accepting we may suffer scratches/dents etc from other cars, what we were not prepared to accept was the damage- ie broken handbrake operating system- that was caused when the hotel moved our vehicle. They obviously didn't know how to operate the handbrake system of a Mercedes and used brute force to disengage the handbrake. We would expect somebody competent to be in charge of moving the cars in the car park.

It is their policy to refuse all liability for damage caused either by them or other drivers. You will have NO REDRESS even when it is THEY who have caused the damage.

As for the overnight stay, the room was hot and the air conditioning was so noisy we had to turn it off and use the desk fan supplied. Though it was 'normal hours' the Pizzaria was closed, the Steak Restaurant was ridiculously priced so we drove up the road for the more realistic option. (with a perfectly operating handbrake)!!

No apology was received from their Customer Service Department, who were far from helpful.
