“Good for a one night stay between flights”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2012

It is located 30 minutes away from the airport by bus. The buses leave from bay 9 or 8 on the south terminal and go to both terminals and another hotel before reaching the Holiday Inn. We arrived at 11pm and when we checked in there were 2 receptionists. We were not acknowledged when we reached the desk and when we interrupted her to check in she said to her colleague, "is your computer on, i shut mine already" we were checked in by her male colleague and he too seemed that we were a bother rather than his job. The shuttle buses to the airport run every 30 minutes in the morning and cost £3 per person per journey. Tickets can be bought at the reception desk and the service runs on time. The rooms are classic Holiday Inn standard and very clean, we had a floor on the ground floor and there was no noise whatsoever. At check out, as everything was prepaid so the interaction with reception was minimal but it seemed that the morning shift was also not happy to be facing guests that early in the morning.

After the Nightmare of Travel Lodge central Gatwick, We walked around the corner to the Holiday Inn and what a relief friendly staff, welcoming foyer, very comfortable bed, tasty restaurant. Green motion rental cars attached to hotel{brand new car all inc for 1 week £300} Train ticket one way to Durham £155 Hire a car with GPS much better deal. Happy travels, Steve the Kiwi.

Room Tip: Dont use Travel Lodge central Gatwick.

Hotel was clean and comfortable. Carpet and bathroom could use updating, but no frills needed for an overnight stay. Price is higher than expected for this basic rest stop, however typical for an airport hotel. Disappointed by one front desk clerk who was neither keen to assist but rather snarly? Night desk clerk very helpful, however, and made up for snarly one. Shuttle bus is affordable and stops right out front of hotel doors so is very convenient for airport transfer and operates round the clock. Not my favourite hotel airport in this world.

We booked online for our holiday and arrived early evening on 15th Sep - one night in hotel plus 15 days parking. The room was to a high standard, very comfortable and check in was fast and straightforward with friendly staff.

As we booked online we added the "3 course meal for £20 per head" option. We weren't too sure what we would get for £20 so were pleasantly surprised that we could choose our courses from the main menu. We could pick any of the "starred" items which in fact included most of the menu items except the more expensive options eg the large steaks. The food was to a high standard and we enjoyed the meal. Yes the drinks were a tad expensive - £23 for a bottle of Shiraz - but it was part of the holiday and you pay that in many restaurants.

The bus fare to the airport (the bus is not operated by the hotel) was the standard £3 per person which was the same as last year. With more than 2 people it maybe cheaper to take a taxi.

On our return, the car pick up was quick and easy, and the car was clean and in sound condition. The cars are moved, but not offsite, and the speedo had not moved more than half a mile if that.

All in all a great hotel, and we will definately use again. I have only put the sleep quality as average because this is an airport hotel with people coming and going 24/7. Indeed, we were up at 4.30am so there is constant corridor noise which really cannot be avoided.

Excellent location, we stayed for one night and booked the car in for 15 days. Easy check in, nice clean size room, and good facilities. Meals and drinks on the pricey side but there is a Tescos within walking distance. The only problem we had was the price for the shuttle bus, £3.00 per person one way, which worked out at £24 for the four of us return, so do what we did, phone the local cab firm and they only charge £6.00 one way, we also used them for the return.

We used this hotel prior to our flight and were extremely pleased with what we found.

The location is only a 5 min shuttle bus journey from the airport terminal and they run every 15 mins. Rooms are an excellent standard and was more than comfortable for a family of 4. We had a double bed and a 2nd double which was actually a fold up sofa bed. This was perfectly suitable for my young children but may be an issue if you have an older family.

Hotel staff were very well trained and offered excellent customer service and the hotel common areas were presented to a very high standard.

My only real criticism would be the high prices on food and drink, however as we arrived early we took the 10 minute walk into the centre of Horley and took advantage of a decent selection of pubs and restaurants.

All on all I would certainly stay again if ever I was flying out of Gatwick.
