“excellent place to stay - but there are provisos”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Had a very nice overnight stay, and there's much to recommend this place. Excellent food, very friendly and helpful staff and beautiful environment.
Downside was that the room - a junior suite, which was in the converted outbuildings -was excessively hot and there was nothing we could do to control the temperature. Opening windows meant that the heating just worked harder and you could then hear the planes from nearby Gatwick. Also, one guest was clearly up at five am for a flight and took 45 minutes getting ready. The noise carried into our room and there was no way we could sleep though it.
But in every other respect, to be highly recommended.

Room Tip: Check that their heating can be turned off!! And that you have an upstairs room.

Dear Guest

Many thanks for taking the time to write your review.

I am pleased to read that you enjoyed your stay at Langshott Manor recently. I am sorry if your room was too hot and you were not aware of how to alter this. Each room has individual heating controls on the radiators which can be adjusted according to your preference.

I hope to welcome you again in the future

Once again thank you for your comments

Kind Regards

Our family live in the area so we decided this would be a great place to get together for Sunday Lunch, and have a good chat and a catch up without anyone having to do the cooking. There were 6 of us and a baby. We were one of the three tables occupied, so the diningroom was a little quiet. The other two tables were just 2's, so it was difficult not to appear a little noisy in such quiet surroundings. There was not much atmosphere. The food and the service was very good.
The Langshott Manor do serve afternoon teas and by the time we left, the lounge area was full of people having their sumptuous afternoon teas,

We spent a wonderful night at Langshott Manor last weekend. The staff were all extremely welcoming and efficient. Our room was quiet, luxurious and cosy. We had dinner in the Mulberry Restaurant - the food was beautifully presented and delicious.

We couldn't recommend Langshott enough and we will definitely return!!

Room Tip: We stayed in the Leeds suite - quiet and tucked away!

Just three miles from The London Gatwick airport, lays buried in the English greenery
a beautiful Old Manor hotel called the Langshott. It's shrouded by very tall trees, and shrubbery, making it difficult to find on a drizzly dark October afternoon. Once you spot a modest sign announcing LANGSHOTT MANOR HOTEL and you slowly enter the narrow driveway you are transported to 17th century England. You enter the grounds of this OLD MANOR hotel and the sight takes your breath away. The beautifully groomed hedges and gardens give the air of tranquility and a feeling of well being.
We booked a classic suit with a multicourse dinner special, and as we unpacked and sipped on our complimentary glass of champagne my wife and I marveled at our grand surroundings and looked forward to our fancy seven course dinner.
Since we arrived fairly early in the afternoon we took a leisurely stroll through the gardens past the pond surrounded by very old drooping willows, past a small croquet pitch, and relaxed on a park bench watching the white ducks enjoying their day on the pond. For a while it appeared that time had stood still, and after a long flight from the US we found a place to relax before our long flight to The Far East.
With some time left before our formal dinner at the Manor, we decided to take a walk along the road called Ladbroke and came across an old looking pub called The Farmhouse. We dropped in for a pint of ale, and ordered a pub lunch. The beer was fine the food not so much?
We took a slow walk back to our "Manor' and prepared for our dinner. I am normally not a fan of multicourse dining because it is usually food that I call complicated,
overdone and usually not to my taste. Three courses is more than enough for me, and one bottle of red wine for two is fine.
Let me just say emphatically that if you ever stay at the Langshott manor and are offered their chef's 7 course dinner don't hesitate; just take it. It's truly great food, beautifully presented, and very well paired with appropriate wines. Both my wife and I enjoyed the candle lit evening of great dining, attended with elegance by a great staff.
We loved the place, slept in a very comfortable bed, enjoyed the full English breakfast
and were sad to leave this island of luxury.

Room Tip: Stay in Main House

Have just returned from a lovely relaxing overnight stay at Langshott Manor for my husband's birthday. We stayed in Bodium room in the main hotel, which was very nicely decorated, the bed was very comfortable and the room had a huge bathroom and bath with step to step into it but had to be careful stepping out when wet step though.
The hotel is very picturesque with well kept grounds and duck pond. The staff were very attentive and couldnt have been more helpful, would have been nice to have had a bar there but cannot even criticise for that as they tell you to make yourself comfortable and a waiter regularly comes round to check if you need another drink.
We had dinner and breakfast in the Mulberry restaurant which is a cosy looking restaurant and superb food and sat at corner tables both times with views to the grounds. Waiters/Waitresses knew alot about the food and even remembered it was my husband's birthday.
Reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Just the one negative comment to add at the end is even though wifi coverage is shown in the booklet in the room and can connect free of charge, i was only able to connect in certain places in the hotel grounds and definately not in the room, so something to bear in mind if you need to use.

Langshott Manor exceeded our expectations in every way - the hotel and grounds were beautiful and the food served was great quality. We booked with a special Travelzoo deal for our Wedding Anniversary and loved the hotel. The staff without exception were friendly and helpful - we had the Anne Boleyn Junior Suite - sumptiously decorated and overlooking the moat it also boasted an open fireplac eand candles ready to be lit - very romantic !
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone and will hopefully stay again in the future.

Room Tip: We loved the Anne Boleyn room for a romantic getaway

We arranged to have afternoon tea at this 4 red star AA hotel to get a 'feel' for the atmosphere and how the staff welcomed us. Our booking was for 4pm and we arrived at 3:50. No-one on reception, two suited men walked from one doorway to another glancing at us to say good afternoon before passing on. When receptionist did appear within a few minutes, she asked if she could help. We advised we had booked afternoon tea. She asked what name and then showed us to a small room, took our coats and left us. We sat until 4:15 unattended before deciding to leave as we were not impressed by the welcome or service. We had chosen Langshott as a possible venue for our wedding reception and we are so glad we decided to try afternoon tea before making any further enquiries. The Langshott promotion page for the hotel may very well accurately describe the building, features and products but the most important elements were missing; the welcome, staff knowing who the hotel is expecting on a given date/time, and legendary customer care. We have of course enlightened our friends regarding this experience.

Dear Guest

Many thanks for taking the time to add your review. I would like to apologise for the poor level of customer service you experienced during your afternoon tea at Langshott Manor.

I have discussed these matters at length with my team to ensure that such events do not reoccur.

I hope that this has not tarnished your view of Langshott Manor and hope to see you again in the future.

Kind Regards
