My in-laws recently moved to Midhurst so we've been slowly trying out the local establishments when we visit them. We were walking around the town on Saturday and decided to visist the Angel. Looks OK at first glance, although nobody in the bar/reception area tried to help or seat us - eventually we stopped a waitress.
To cut a long story short; we waited 45 minutes for our lunch order (from the bar/lunch menu) without anyone telling us there was an issue. After 40 minutes, I stopped a waiter who told me "we've got a table of 5 and a table of 7 in" but having not told us there would be a delay we were a bit miffed being as we were looking for a quick-ish bite.
My wife had an argitenan steak sandwich, which she said was "OK" and I ordered the argintean burger. The burger itself was excellent. The salad and chips would have been better in McDonalds - the chips looked overcooked and yet were soggy and the salad was a couple of leaves with 2 or 3 cherry tomatoes thrown on top.
This would be acceptable from a place if it wasn't charging nearly a tenner for a sandwich (chips extra) and over that for a burger.
They've certainly not done themselves any favours. My in-laws and the extended family will certainly be avoiding the place in future on our experience.
It looks like they have at least one good chef in the kitchen but the service was poor and they need to get a grip on customer service.
