Family girls weekend to New York thought we'd start it early by staying at the Thistle, which was a good choice. Excellent customer service prior to our stay, nice room and really good service in the hotel restaurant. Early departure from hotel, took the pod to T5 which was so easy and convenient. Will definitely be re-booking this hotel in the summer again.
Overall excellent stay.

Glad you had a great stay at the Thistle London Heathrow.

I pleased you found the customer service worthy of a mention this is really very important to us. The POD makes the connection to Terminal 5 very easy.

I very much look forward to welcoming you back in the summer.

I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service and quality of the public areas, your staff are on a par with the 5* hotel. This makes your hotel incredible value for money, a most enjoyable stay in a convenient location.

We stayed at the Thistle as we were landing at T5 and it was too late to start travelling home.

Positives: the bed was very comfy and the lady that checked us in on reception was very friendly and helpful. We also asked about restaurants nearby and she was very informative.

Negatives: The hotel had the smell of smoke in the corridors (even though the rooms were non smoking). The worst part of our stay was how much noise you could hear from the corridor whilst in you room - at one point, we jumped out of bed thinking someone was trying to get into our room (the people weren't being particularly noisy - the walls were just quiet thin).

We decided on this hotel because of the price and for that reason, I can't be too critical - you get what you pay for...

Me and my fiance were traveling to Berlin on business and stayed overnight at the Thistle to make the journey smoother.

I'll start at the beginning. The lobby was warm and inviting and the staff on reception were very friendly despite it being quite late at night when we arrived. We checked in with no issues at all and were told that breakfast was included with the reservation. Fantastic.

We had to walk down a long corridor to get to our room and the further in we got the more it smelled a little fusty. But when we entered our room I was pleased to find the smell was not present, but the room was baking hot. It was clean, though, and had the basics. Double bed, bathroom, etc.

After we had dumped our stuff we went to get some food at the restaurant before it closed for the night. We walked upstairs and down the corridor to the restaurant and waited be seen by the hostess. We needed to see the menu first to see if there was anything suitable to eat and after we checked we were seated. I ordered the soup of the day which was cream of broccoli and cauliflower and some egg mayo sandwiches. The sandwiches were filled very well and the soup was very tasty indeed and served in a large earthen soup pot. The only issue we had was with the staff who couldn't understand a word we were saying despite explaining things very simply to them.

We retired to our room after eating and settled for the night. The bed was very comfortable and I had no trouble settling. My fiance wanted a shower, but was unable to because the shower was broken. It would turn on, but the temperature controls were broken and were hanging off the wall. That put pay to that. Despite being comfortable, the room was stifling hot and no amount of button pressing on the temperature down button for the heater changed it. The heater was also incredibly noisy and kept waking us up, as well as a roudy guest who was staying a few rooms down.

After only 3 hours sleep we had to wake at 6am. We hurried out of our room and headed for breakfast that was included. When we arrived at the restaurant we were asked for our room number and the hostess checked the list. We were not listed despite being told it was included. We explained what we were told and she said she'd call reception to double check... and proceeded to just stand there instead. We had to urge her to do it or she'd have taken forever about it and we'd have been stood there looking like weirdos. Thankfully, reception told her it was included and we were seated.

Breakfast was a buffet affair with item in stainless steel lidded containers. I had hash browns, beans and scrambled eggs. Everything was delicious and hot, but the scrambled eggs tasted funny. I'll admit the taste was similar to vomit, so I left that. But all in all it was adequate. We then checked out and went on our way.

All in all I'd say it was an average stay. It's not the worst stay in a hotel I've ever had, but it's not the best either. The room was nice despite the broken shower and noisy heater. The staff at reception were bright, cheery and helpful, but the staff in the restaurant were not the same.

I would stay here again, but only overnight as we did on this occasion.

Reading some of the reviews I was concerned about the potential for being cold, and infact the room they booked us in to was cold and the heater didn't heat. No problem though because the staff quickly changed us to another room.
We enjoyed an evening meal at the restaurant, but because we ate early, it lacked a bit of atmosphere..
Hopper bus was on time, next morning. We did have one major glitch, some idiot decided to have a cigarette in the corridor at 2 am, setting off the fire alarm; I know that it was not the Hotel's fault but it was annoying.
The staff were very friendly and very helpful, and considering the price, the stay was very good value.

Room Tip: If your room seems a bit cold, tell the staff

A comfortable and clean hotel, situation is ideal for all airport terminals. Staff were friendly and polite which is rare these days. We had an evening meal at the hotel which was perfectly adequate. We had a early flight and was unsure if the Hoppa bus was running, no problem it starts at approx 5am., (good service), would recommend this hotel.

I had read some of the other reviews and I wasn't so sure about booking, but was glad I did. On the one side this is an old hotel in need of a refurbishment with small rooms. However on the plus side it has friendly staff, good food and great views of the airport for plane spottersas well as being great value for money. As I said the rooms are small but clean and comfortable and ideal for a night pre or post flight. It is very close to terminal 5 and you can access it with the pod from T5 in a few minutes, probably best if you don't want to walk too far or have a lot of luggage. If you do then use the hoppa bus instead as it will drop you off at the front door. The restaurant offers unpretentious food served well at a fair price and I had a really excellent steak. Breakfast is also good with a great selection of hot and cold dishes, so recommend you get a rate which includes it. Will certainly return.
