“Could be worse, I suppose”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 9, 2013

The good:
+ The bed is really comfortable. Within minutes of putting my head on the pillow I was fast asleep. This never happens in hotels with me.
+ All of the staff are really friendly
+ Dinner was very tasty

The average:
+ Breakfast. Nice bacon, scrambled eggs obviously from a packet, hash browns hard as nails.

The bad:
+ The rooms are small
+ Air-conditioning didn't work - very noisy, but no cold air
+ Windows awkward to open
+ Extractor fan in the bathroom didn't work

Due to the fact the air conditioning didn't work, I had to open the window to let the heat out. As the hotel is a stone's throw from the runway, this meant the room got VERY noisy every 2 minutes. The hotel is located at the beginning of the runway, so you hear the full thrust of the engines. I have previously stayed at a Holiday Inn on the same road, but much further down, and the noise of planes through an open window was MUCH less noticeable.

You can see the hotel at the nose of the plane in the picture.

I got 2 nights bed and breakfast for less than £100, so I'm not going to complain too much, and the bed really was very comfortable. However, I would have preferred to have A/C that works.

I have stayed at the Ibis hotel near Heathrow various times over the past few years. The standard is nice and clean, the hotel is fairly reasonable if booked online in advance. Hotel reception is OK - this time the TV did not work the first evening but after I told the reception (and went on to meetings in London) it was working very nicely the next evening. A major pro for this hotel is that you can use local buses (105,111,140 and 285) for free - and just walk a little bit to the hotel! On the buses you will also be alerted - as they tell you the free zone ends and you know you have to get off and walk a few hundred meters . . .

I came in at 8 PM in LHR T5 and had chosen this hotel because it is presented as very close to the airport. I called the hotel to check the best way to get there and they indicated the Hoppa bus 56. It took me 1h20 from the bus stop at T5 to the hotel... A very long wait for the bus (30 minutes), 10 minutes to board all the passengers and finally an endless trip stopping by at other termnals and several hôtels... It would have been much quicker to reach central London by tube ! Finally, I reached my worn out room with stains on the carpet... A very bad experience ! Never again...

I was dissapointed to learn that you did not enjoy your stay, and I am sorry if the room decor did not meet your expectations.

Regarding the location, we are one mile from Terminals 1,2,& 3 and four miles from T5 which is on the otherside of the airfield. The Hotel Hoppa Bus H56, which is operated by National Express should take around 40 minutes from T5, and runs every 20 minutes during peak times, or every 30 minutes off peak. You can also take the Free Transfer to Terminal 1 or 3 and get the free local bus service (numbers 105,111,140) from Heathrow Central to the hotel. Alternativley a taxi from T5 normally costs between £15-£20. I am sorry if you had a difficult or delayed journey to reach us.

Kind Regards,

Richard Lee

Good clean hotel with no fuss on entry or exit. Only stayed one night before flying from heathrow, but provided the perfect stop over before the beginning of our holiday. Really only suited for someone needing to stay near the airport as distance from central london is quite large. Easy bus service to all departure terminals via bus links.
