“Very good for a budget hotel & great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2011

1/ Only issues were I orignally booked on line for 1 night but later decided to increase my stay for 3 nights, I contacted reservations to try & change this for 3 nights firstly the man I was speaking to was hard to understand at times as his english was not great & I do not think he understood what I wanted to do. I ended up having to do it myself on line but had to do 2 separate bookings & go to reception on the 3rd morning & had to explan this again as a new registration which I was a little annoyed with, should be a system where you are able to change this.
2/ Unable to print important documents from the guests computer, I tried to print my boarding pass but was unable to print this, staff tried to help to no avail. These 2 computers need to have a printer connected to so guests are able to print important documents.
3/ Had to wait to be attended to at reception at times as it was busy, maybe put more staff on especially during holidays to cope with the load.
4/ Room service would have been handy but was not available at this hotel.

This Ibis is on Bath Road, the northern perimeter of Heathrow Airport, sitting alongside several other large hotels. This means it is in a convenient location for travelling to and from the airport. If you arrive by car, you do not need to pay to use the hotel's car park, as there is free overnight parking on the streets behind the hotel. You can save around £7 this way. The room rates are usually the lowest for hotels on Bath Road (around £40 a night). Despite the low cost, the rooms are an adequate size, clean and with a comfortable bed. There is a flat screen TV and coffee/tea facilities, but otherwise they are fairly plain and basic. The bathroom is also an adequate size and standard. The hotel looks like it has been around a while and has been well used, but it is in reasonable condition and appearance. The public spaces are refurbished and very presentable. If you just need a one night stay, before an early departure, or if you are coming from a late night arrival into Heathrow, this is good choice for a budget overnight stop. We have not tried the breakfasts or bar so cannot comment on those.

There are 2 reasons to stay at this hotel : Price and location.
If you're lucky to know well in advance you can book thishotel of £49 which is good. In that case it gives you good value for the money. In my case I had to wait un just a week before the trip and the price was double. This did not give me good value for the money.
The other good reason to stay at this hotel is the location. It close by to Heathrow and you can reach it by the HOPPA service.
Finally, I don't understand why one have to pay outrageus £15/24h in the UK, that is robbery. In Sweden it is complemetary to all hotels I have stayed at as well as in the US.

Given all of the hotel options near Heathrow, there's no reason to choose the Ibis. The lobby is fine, but the rooms need updating, the mattress was thin and hard and there are no bath amenities other than a combo shampoo/soap dispenser in the tub. The Ibis is within the Heathrow free zone, but it's a bit of a walk to the nearest bus stop in either direction. There is a restaurant, but the food is pricey, only bottled beer is on offer (really? in England?) and if there are any restaurants or pubs nearby the desk staff didn't know about them. The biggest "but" of all - no free wifi (2.99 pounds just to check your email). But if all you want is somewhere to flop after a late arrival, the Ibis is okay.

Stayed at this hotel whilst on business in the local area and it is as expected for a hotel of this price. Entrance lobby and restaurant etc have been recently refurbished and are of a nice quality - once you go upstairs into the rooms, it's a lot older and in need of an upgrade. Room quality was OK but not spectacular. Ate at the restaurant which was nice but choice was slightly limited. Good buffet breakfast in the morning which was well stocked. Sound insulation in the room is good considering you're right next to the runway - don't get much plane noise.
