“It's a hotel.....therefore eat, sleep and park your car there. Simple!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We have just had yet another one night stay at this hotel prior to Christmas, which for all in intents and purposes served up a mixture of exactly what we always wanted. The clue is in the title of this review. Now, being the laid back sort of person I am, I don't find having to wait for a few minutes whilst the Desk Staff deal with a customer who arrived there before me. If you are feeling a tad impatient, yes, there are more hotels along the road, so why not take a stroll to one of those.

Now as mentioned previously, we have stayed here before, and on those occasions we did pretty well on the price. On this occasion not so well......because the hotel was full of people on a company seminar thingy and space was at a premium. BUT! When booking in, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room, because that was all that was left. It was a smoking room, I am a smoker. I did not smoke in it because I chose not to. But if you are a non-smoker, do not stay in one because believe it or not.......the room will smell of stale smoke! All in all, the room was good and for a short stay, no probs.

Now, lucky old us got a 20% off offer for the Oceanic Restaurant upon check in. We had steak. It was possibly one of the best fillet steaks I had had in a long while. The drinks were expensive, so we did not have many. The service was OK. (ie: if you required something, attract the staff's attention. Be polite and it will reward you greatly. Remember you are not the only customer they are serving) And yes..........there will be a service charge added to your food bill. However, be good to yourself and as a paying customer check the bill carefully, as you should do anyway. If you do not want to pay the service charge, don't. They will take it off at your request. However, if you feel you have had exceptional service......why not leave a cash tip? At least you know it's going to the person(s) who served you. As for breakfast......well I am a bit of a Macky D's Breakfast fan, so turn right out of the main hotel doors and Hey Presto!! Food at a reasonable price.

Parking, well the charges were OK but I think you get a better deal the longer you are away. The car park (on site) appears very straight forward and reasonably secure.

Checking out, is very much a case of just that. Make sure you are up and about well before your airport check-in time and there will be no tantrums at the desk when you may have had to wait for someone else to be dealt with.

The Hopper Buses appear to be a frequent and suitable way of getting to which ever terminal you require. The Limo Service looks impressive, perhaps it's more suited to those who want to add that finishing touch to a special occasion.

So to sum up.........you are the one(s) in charge of your own destiny's. There are enough reviews on here from many different people who have many different needs, but put quite simply.......if you want to eat, sleep and leave your car somewhere safe, then this hotel appears quite sufficient.

We will be staying overnight in Heathrow again in Spring 2013, I would have liked to have stayed at the Radisson again, but it will be the Hilton no doubt as we received a present this Christmas entitling us to a free champagne dinner at one of their establishments. That's the only reason for not returning to the Radisson Blu, and I think that's a more than reasonable excuse, would you not agree?

My husband and I stayed at this hotel on the first night of our honeymoon (the day after our wedding!), due to the extremely good park and fly deal offered by the hotel. As we had an early flight the next morning, staying over seemed like a good idea - and the hotel plus parking was only approximately £40 - £50 more expensive than parking alone. As it was our honeymoon, we booked the deluxe parking deal (chauffeur transfer to the airport and delivery of the car to the airport on return).

Parking and car delivery aspects were excellent. The transfer was on time and in a great car. The car was dropped back off very promptly on our return to Heathrow.

As for the hotel itself, there were positives and negatives. The negative was that, on check in (at about 11pm when we were exhausted), we were handled by a trainee. He could not even get the basics right, took all the details we had already provided to the hotel, and then couldn't find our booking. He did not even respond when we said it was our honeymoon. Anyway, he called a manager who sorted things out, but the whole check in took approximately 25 to 30 minutes - not good when tired, and particularly bad when we presented all printed out documentation.

The room itself was very good - spacious and comfortable. The bathroom was attractive, with good products. The TV seemed not to work, but as it was late at night, we didn't bother chasing up on this. I found the bed comfortable and slept well, but my husband was disturbed by lift noise.

All in all - great deal on parking, and a good quality hotel which, with better standards of service, and more attention to detail, could be higher rated.

Stayed here before a flight to NYC. Hotel is really nice. Pricing is a little on the high side.
The room was lovely and comfortable. The view wasn't we could see a load of skips with boxes from the kitchen in them.
The food was the worst I have ever had in the overpriced restaurant, I had pasta, which had not one bit of taste to it. My partner had the same dish and his was the same.
This was disappointing considering the cost and im not entirely sure how you can get pasta so wrong. On the other hand, Mcdonalds was next door, thats where we ate the rest of our meals. At least they had some taste and were not over priced.
A service charge was added onto our bill and the waitress automatically assumed I wanted to pay for it, wrong! I asked for it off, got a glare and then had to leave my table and go to the till because I was making a payment by card.

The room which we were initially allocated was appalling. Really dated, awful decor, ironing board propped up against the wall, damaged furniture, and mouldy sealant growing around the bath. Well below the standards you would expect of the Radisson.

After requesting a room change, we were put in a room that was in a different league. Modern furniture and none of the issues mentioned above.

Clearly there is a big discrepancy between the quality of the rooms, and if you get shafted with one of the old rooms may well be disappointed.

On a more positive note, service was excellent, there is a very nice breakfast buffet, and a nice bar downstairs. Good people working there let down by some old rooms.

Room Tip: Avoid the old, un-refurbished rooms.

We stayed in this hotel for one night before flying to Dusseldorf from Heathrow Terminal one. We were able to leave the car in the hotel car park for up to 15 nights while abroad.

The hotel itself is a top end hotel and much as you would expect from hotels of this type, a little old, a little fuddy duddy, a little overpriced food and drink, but very convenient for Heathrow.

A shuttle bus runs from the hotel regularly and is reasonable however we took advantage of a car arranged by the hotel at a cost of £12 which gave door to door service in a luxury Merc ...

There are a number of reasonable pubs within walking distance not to mention a fast food establishment (The one with the Golden M) next door so you do not have to pay the hotel prices for an enjoyable evening meal before you fly. We went to a local pub and received a very warm welcome and some excellent real ale..

We had to leave for the airport early so we were not able to have breakfast though it was included in the price so I cannot comment on the food.

The staff were helpful and friendly though on the day we stayed there the computers were all down so there were queues for the check in and a couple of Christmas functions at the hotel probably meant that it was busier than normal.

As the hotel is very close to Heathrow, it may not be such a good idea if you are a very light sleeper, there again just remember the ear plugs...

Really impressed by friendliness of service, quality of food in restaurant, and quality of room. Amazing in an airport hotel. We booked in a secret shopper deal and also bought the restaurant voucher at the same time -- £20 each for a three course meal was great. Will stay again
