We have just had yet another one night stay at this hotel prior to Christmas, which for all in intents and purposes served up a mixture of exactly what we always wanted. The clue is in the title of this review. Now, being the laid back sort of person I am, I don't find having to wait for a few minutes whilst the Desk Staff deal with a customer who arrived there before me. If you are feeling a tad impatient, yes, there are more hotels along the road, so why not take a stroll to one of those.
Now as mentioned previously, we have stayed here before, and on those occasions we did pretty well on the price. On this occasion not so well......because the hotel was full of people on a company seminar thingy and space was at a premium. BUT! When booking in, we were upgraded to a Deluxe Room, because that was all that was left. It was a smoking room, I am a smoker. I did not smoke in it because I chose not to. But if you are a non-smoker, do not stay in one because believe it or not.......the room will smell of stale smoke! All in all, the room was good and for a short stay, no probs.
Now, lucky old us got a 20% off offer for the Oceanic Restaurant upon check in. We had steak. It was possibly one of the best fillet steaks I had had in a long while. The drinks were expensive, so we did not have many. The service was OK. (ie: if you required something, attract the staff's attention. Be polite and it will reward you greatly. Remember you are not the only customer they are serving) And yes..........there will be a service charge added to your food bill. However, be good to yourself and as a paying customer check the bill carefully, as you should do anyway. If you do not want to pay the service charge, don't. They will take it off at your request. However, if you feel you have had exceptional service......why not leave a cash tip? At least you know it's going to the person(s) who served you. As for breakfast......well I am a bit of a Macky D's Breakfast fan, so turn right out of the main hotel doors and Hey Presto!! Food at a reasonable price.
Parking, well the charges were OK but I think you get a better deal the longer you are away. The car park (on site) appears very straight forward and reasonably secure.
Checking out, is very much a case of just that. Make sure you are up and about well before your airport check-in time and there will be no tantrums at the desk when you may have had to wait for someone else to be dealt with.
The Hopper Buses appear to be a frequent and suitable way of getting to which ever terminal you require. The Limo Service looks impressive, perhaps it's more suited to those who want to add that finishing touch to a special occasion.
So to sum up.........you are the one(s) in charge of your own destiny's. There are enough reviews on here from many different people who have many different needs, but put quite simply.......if you want to eat, sleep and leave your car somewhere safe, then this hotel appears quite sufficient.
We will be staying overnight in Heathrow again in Spring 2013, I would have liked to have stayed at the Radisson again, but it will be the Hilton no doubt as we received a present this Christmas entitling us to a free champagne dinner at one of their establishments. That's the only reason for not returning to the Radisson Blu, and I think that's a more than reasonable excuse, would you not agree?
