Second stay at this lovely family-friendly hotel. This year we booked early on to get the adjoining family rooms on the top floor which gave us that extra bit of space. Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel with comfy beds and plenty of towels, storage space, tea, coffee, water etc in the rooms themselves replenished daily. Also really welcome little touches like such as the selection of books and toys in the room, plus warm whole milk at bedtime for children and crisps and juice each day. The flatscreen TV's in each room were enjoyed for cartoons by our son and the freshly refurbished toy-room loved by all. There was improved (now excellent) WiFi signal and we liked there being a spacious lounge with plenty of books and magazines plus the availability of baby monitors too. Pam & Brian are lovely & knowledgeable hosts who think of everything and all the staff in general are friendly and cheerful. The breakfasts are yummy with a wide selection cereals, fruit, yoghurts, teas, coffees, juices, freshly cooked & continental with extra little yoghurts for children which was sweet. You can also pre-order fresh rolls/sandwiches which would be useful for day trips and the hotel is also licenced so we bought glass of wine on our last night. We will definitely stay again!

To use a sporting phrase, Pam and Brian (the proprietors), "pulled victory from the jaws of defeat"! Upon our early evening arrival on a Wednesday we (my wife and I) were told that we were not booked in for our 3 night stay. This was a shock as I had booked 6 months in advance. Pam said she had one spare room for 2 nights but was fully booked on the third night. Upon showing Pam the email confirming my booking and the deposit paid, Pam found the details in their receipt book but it was evident that it had not been transferred formally into the book/diary of bookings! Oh dear, Brian (who took the original booking) was going to be in trouble by the look on Pams face!! Pam was very apologetic and said that she would try to fix this although it might mean staying the third night in another hotel/B&B establishment. Pam took us to the spare room on the 3rd (top) floor which unfortunately was like a sauna given the combination of rising heat from the hotel, the very hot spell of weather we were experiencing at the time and the room had a southerly aspect. Later in the evening Pam informed us that she had managed to re-jig bookings such that we were able to stay for the full 3 nights and that in the morning they would move all of our clothes/bags etc to another room lower down in the hotel (on the 2nd floor). Finally, as a gesture of goodwill, we would only be charged for 2 nights stay. As promised, the next day all of our things were moved into another room which was much cooler and had a nicer layout to it - we were very pleased with this room (number 4) which had a slightly larger shower unit and the room felt more spacious even though it still had a double and a single bed in it. When we met Brian he was extremely apologetic and had the look of a man who had been ticked off big time!! Breakfast was very good. Cereal, yoghurt and fruit was self service, as was tea or coffee - I need to mention that I have never seen such a quantity of different teas available in a hotel or B&B anywhere - there must have been at least 20 varieties including decaf tea, and my favourite was fresh peppermint! Fruit juice is brought to the table if requested as is the cooked breakfast and toast. The hotel has a large lounge area on the 1st floor to relax in where a daily newspaper is available to read. There is also wi-fi available but the strength of the signal will vary depending on the room you are in, although the signal is just fine in the lounge area. A warning to anyone who wishes to stay in an establishment where there are no children - this is NOT the place for you! Pam and Brian are proud to advertise that their hotel is very child friendly (Pam is a retired childrens nurse!) and they provide a separate playroom for very young children. One morning at breakfast a family had a relatively newborn baby with them who was crying but Pam came to the rescue, she cradled the baby who immediately stopped crying - clearly Pams experience as a childrens nurse was paying devidends! Overall this small seaside hotel in an end of terrace victorian building is exactly what you would expect to see - slightly old fashioned (but in keeping with the building), comfortable, clean and serving a good breakfast with friendly staff. Whilst the hotel does not have its own car parking, the very large Rectory Fields car park at the end of the Esplanade overlooking the South Beach is only 50 metres from the hotel and at £4 per day the cost is reasonable. We left our car there the whole time we stayed and there were no probems. Overall, and despite the intial shock regarding the booking, we had an excellent stay at the Southcliff Hotel - Pam and Brian bent over backwards to rectify the problem and to make our stay a comfortable one. We would have no hesitation to book there again when we next visit Tenby (although next time I may phone a month in advance just to confirm the booking is still ok!!).

First time staying at this hotel, we were very impressed.
Very friendly welcolm, we were shown up to our room.
The room was SO clean, the smell of fresh bedding was lovely. Plenty of storage, tea, coffee and water available.
Breakfast gave us choices of cereal, fruit, toast, cooked breakfast, teas, coffee and fruit juice.
The hotel is ideally situated, near the car park (we paid £12 sat-mon) and only a short walk to the beach and town centre.
We would definatly stay here again.

Very nice and welcoming. Pam supplies the professional touch and Brian breaks the ice and supplies the humour. All areas were clean and the rooms had everything needed for a comfortable stay. The choice at breakfast seemed to cater for all tastes. We could not fault it. Thank you Pam and Brian.

It's a bit grand to call this a hotel it is really a B&B. it is clean and the proprietors and staff are welcoming. The decor is dated and there are a number of twee touches such as small decorative objects with running water in the reception and breakfast room.

The room was comfortable and clean although the duvets were rather heavy for June.

There is an underlying feeling of discomfort that is a result of several notices around the room eg. telling guests to use the trays provided when placing items on the dressing table. They also request that you tell them what you want for breakfast before you go to bed.

The breakfast itself was a big disappointment the cooked breakfast was the same quality as you would get from a motorway service station the sausage in particular was very bad the meat content must have been very low.

We also felt that 9am was rather early to end breakfast on a Sunday

Overall we felt that everything was organised for the hotels convenience and not the guests.

At £65 for the night we felt it was OK for a one night stay but would find it warning to stay longer.

Stayed here for a weekend in June and have to say what a lovely hotel run by lovely people. I have stayed in many places in tenby and have to say this is by far the best. First the hotel was very clean and nothing was to much trouble for them. The rooms were also very clean and I was surprised at how well equipped they were. Had a large very comfy double bed and it truly was a home away from home. The breakfast in the morning is absolutely fabulous you can have as much as you like and you really are spoilt for choice. The cooked breakfast was cooked to perfection and very tasty :)!! By far the best hotel in tenby with a warm friendly atmosphere and we will be returning in July and every year after that. GREAT!!!!
