I PRE BOOKED THE WHOLE HOTEL FOR A WEEKEND BREAK FOR 127 PEOPLE.
after reading the reviews i became quite alarmed so i deceided
to pre visit the hotel before taking my group there.
on arrival it became quite clear that the review's i had read and my fears were unfounded.
the staff,rooms,food,entertaintment were excellent.
i cannot praise the hotel and staff high enough and if any readers like me are worried about booking this hotel then ring them and they will put you mind at ease.
127 of us visited the hotel in mach 2007 and everthing was first class.FOOD,SERVICE,POLITENESS OF STAFF,CLEANLINESS
ENTETAINMENT WERE ALL EXCELLENT SO MUCH THAT I HAVE BOOKED THE WHOLE HOTEL AGAIN FOR NEXT YEAR.
127 PEOPLE CAN'T BE WRONG.
JUST TO FINISH IT WAS BRILLANT.

After reading some reviews for this hotel had to just write to say we had a fab time here. Arrived on a fri pm no traffic problems travelled with freinds so only one car to park no problems at all parked outside in side street. Met by freindly staff and rooms on 3rd floor were very pleasant warm comfortable and excellent sea views. Lift in good working order but stairs not a problem either. Very comfortable bed and apart from a "were wolf" and the fire alarm (which out of our three booked rooms I was the only one to hear) (no fire by the way) we slept like logs. Because of function in the night we ate out. Lots of places to eat and drink many only catering for couples and families no hens or stag do's. Lots to do and lovely beach to walk along to help blow away the cobwebs.
Good quick service at breakfast and tasty hot meal lots to choose from and plenty of it. Staff were very freindly and helpfull.
A really enjoyable stay made all the better by freindly helpfull staff and good company.
Would definately go back For a two star hotel this certainly gives you value for money pity there is no pool but in a warmer month you can always swim in the sea which is literally a couple of steps away.
Keep up the good work Giltar our gang will defo be back.
Welshgirls freind.

“This 2 star hotel has a sea view to die for”

Giltar Hotel

After allowing my brother-in-law to take charge of booking our hotel in Tenby, I can't say I was excited at the prospect of staying at the Giltar after reading the reviews! However, speak as you find, we arrived on Friday afternoon the weather was quite good - it wasn't raining, the streets were quiet and we parked the car with no problems, just outside the hotel. From the outside it looked in pretty good condition. We entered the foyer to be greeted by very friendly staff, and as promised we had 3 rooms all with a sea view. Each room was different in layout. 2 had a double and a single bed in each room and 1 had a double. As we were couples, we had more than enough beds to cope with! The bathrooms were small, but nothing to worry about - all the facilities were working and we had hot and cold runing water. I was suprised to find a hairdryer in the bedroom. We had tea and coffee making facilities and a colour TV. Plenty of storage space - large wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers. A stool and 2 chairs were also in the room, which was great if we wanted to sit and take advantage of the beautiful view of the sea - absolutely stunning. We had radiators in each room to keep us warm and they were working perfectly - in fact at one stage we had to open the window it was so warm. (Rooms 307, 308 and 309).

We checked out the lounge area, which was very cosy with a lovely open fire place and plenty of comfortable sofas and chairs to sit on. The downstairs bar was spacious with a dance floor area. The wide screen was in operation which was great for us as we wanted to watch the rugby internationals, we sat alongside the dance floor which gave us uninterrupted views of the screen. The bar man was very accommodating and the prices were very reasonable. As the hotel had a large function that evening we were told if we wanted to go out and bring food in for lunch that would be fine, so we sent out to the local sandwich bar for some tasty baguettes. There are plenty of places nearby if you want to have dinner out too. (If you want an Indian meal book a table in advance - Saturday nights could see you waiting at least 2 hours for service - I speak from experience!)

Breakfast was beautifully laid out in the dining room (didn't much like the "pipes of pan" music though! ) Plenty of choice for breakfast - fruit juices, cereals, toast, jams and marmalades. Full cooked breakfasts of all variations including kippers, served by very friendly staff, who could not have done more for us. We were very happy with our cooked breakfasts.

All in all I'd say we had a very happy weekend, spent in a clean and friendly hotel, served by staff wanting to make our stay a pleasant one. We will definitely return. For what we paid we cannot complain at all. I wonder if some people expect too much from a two star hotel. We were definitely pleasantly surprised.

One thing I should recommend though - ear plugs - for those noisy neighbours who snore - Sue and Gary it's over to you!

“not worth the money”

We stayed at the giltar hotel for just one night. The staff were friendly enough and the hotel is clean. The hotel also has a great location over looking the beach and very close to the town centre. however, the rates you pay for the room are over the top. We paid £41 each for a twin room with a sea view. The room was tiny, the ensuite was even smaller and only one person could appreciate the sea view at one time as the window was in the narrowest part of the room, only wide enough for one person to stand. The breakfast was also poor for the money they charge.

We stayed at this hotel last year, we being my Husband, me and our baby Son. On arrival we went up to the room where a baby cot had been provided as requested. The room was nothing special but was clean and tidy. However things went downhill. We had advised the hotel in advance that they would need to cater for a vegetarian. However at breakfast we were served by foreign staff who had problems understanding simple things like requesting a high chair. I asked for a straw for the baby and we got a wine glass. As our "vegetarian" breakfast arrived we were told there were no beans so they had replaced them with bacon! Needless to say this was sent back. The scrambled egg was like water and out of our 5 days there we refused to pay for breakfast on 3 occasions because the standard was so bad. ( the other 2 days we ate a late breakfast out of the hotel)Both the service and the Customer Service was appalling. We almost left after the first day but decided to persevere in the hope it would get better. It Didn't!
