We booked an internet special for 2 nights dinner, bed and breakfast in a sea view room at £37.50 per person per night. The hotel was warm, reception was friendly, the lift is a bit wonky and then we found our room which was a bit cramped being a conversion from a large sea view room into 2 small ones. The sea view was marred by a misted window with some ancient secondary glazing but we managed to clean it off. Excellent bedding and comfortable bed - nice towels but no shower gel or shampoo ( could not really expect it for the price).
We hit a"gala" dinner on the Saturday night which was an experience with crackers, funny hats and whistles. The food was all tasty but somewhat overcooked, especially the meat (but again for the price it was quite acceptable - usual 3663/Brakes fare ). The next day was part of a Turkey and Tinsel break (in the middle of January !!) and again it was good for the price. Commendation must go for the service which was top notch, especially a waitress called Jane who really put her heart and soul into giving service with a smile.
Breakfast was in the basement with everything self service but a good selection of freshly cooked hot items including porridge and kippers to order.
For the price and location the Belgrave is great value and it's a fun place too.
