“Tenby Trip”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2011

We stayed in this family run hotel and my husband and I, my sister and her dog and my elderly parents enjoyed a fabulous weekend away in Tenby. The location overlooking the sea was beautiful and it was so central to get anywhere in and around the town. The owners were warm, friendly and welcoming and helped us with anything we needed. The breakfasts were excellent We will be returning!

Room Tip: You get what you pay for. My parents had a sea view room with 4 poster bed, large bathroom and chair...

Easy to find - this as usual was booked after research on Tripadviser. Pete the owner booked us in - we were on the first floor in the four-poster room - large room - this was all nice and clean - overlooking the beach. Lovely to sit in the chairs by the window / lie in the bed and listen to the sea. Large bathroom - very clean - only observation would be that with these prices I would expect better toiletries than hard to open ( for me ! ) sachets !! That said our stay was lovely. The dining room is spot on - comfortable and welcoming with a first class breakfast served overlooking the sea.

We had a huge suite (living room, large bath with whirlpool, big bedroom) and a separate entrance. Food was delicious. Hosts are so helpful, friendly, courteous. Clean, well cared-for.

my husband and I booked this hotel via the internet at short notice, so had a good idea what we were going to get, in my opinion we booked one of the best. We booked in half hour before the 3pm book in time very smoothly, were shown to room 22, up on the second floor but thats a few flights of stairs, great if you are fit and healthy. The room was spotless we were very pleased with it, it had a great sea view as promised, was bright and had everything we needed flat screen tv, kettle, tea coffee, water, milk and complimentary biscuits, Fresh towels were provided too in a spotlessly clean bathroom. The only fault there was as in a lot of hotels were that the bathroom lights were very dull and the shower wouldnt warm up no matter how long we waited. The room on the whole was very cosy and warm. 9/10 losing a simple mark owing to the shower. The hotel was very easy to find, its situated right on the end of a row of hotels we parked just to the side of it but places there are limited, you can park in a car park a little way from the back of the hotel. Right across the road from the beach as stated. The owners and the staff are very nice people, the morning staff offer a fabulous breakfast service, they cant do enough for you, very polite and very happy. They went out of their way to make sure youve had enough to eat and drink at breakfast 10/10 to them. The breakfast is infamous to the hotel as I saw many reviews on it, and my husband certainly agreed with the great reviews it had, just what you need to start the day, I opted for simple toast, cereals and preserves, though every taste was catered for with yoghurts, cereals, fresh fruits, full english, salmon, scrambled eggs etc. 10/10 for that. You wouldnt be dissappointed with the hotel at all, I did feel a little cheated at no cocktails however, haha, end of season etc. Tenby itself was a little boring for us, the weather on one of our days there wasnt the best. The town is full of shops and places to eat and drink but theres only so much you can do of this. To the owners of the Esplanade, keep up the impeccable standards, we had a great stay.

Room Tip: Ask for room 22. A clear view of the sea

We stayed in the Tenby hotel for 3 nights in a premier double room (110 Pounds !) which was actually next door of the hotel. The hotel room is a suite with an ample and exclusively furbished living room (leather settee and chairs, flat screen TV, coffee table etc.), a cosy bed room with a four-poster bed and a luxurious bath room with a but tub with jets.
The room is in the ground floor of the house next door of the hotel and it has a direct sea view, the bed room is facing to the back yard. Since there are private flats in the same house, there was occasionally some noise from the neighbours but it was usually quiet after 10 pm. There was no WiFi in the hotel room (as it is located outside of the hotel), however free WiFi is available in the hotel lobby.
The manager of the hotel was very friendly, the service is excellent and the waitresses always served breakfast with a smile on their face and were looking after the guests with great care. Breakfast was rich and excellent quality.
The hotel does not have car park for guests, but guests can park the car in one of the side roads around the hotel for free.
There was a spectacular view from our room onto the sea. The town centre is 3 minutes walk away from the hotel.
We will definitely return to the Esplanade hotel! Excellent value for money and the friendliness and customer-orientation of the staff makes this place special.

We stayed one night in this hotel. We arrived early and reception offered to take our cases until we could check in about half an hour later. Reception were very friendly.
The room was well set out but a bit dated. The shower room was cramped but clean. The only real issue was the shower was barely a dribble.
The room looked clean, however my husband found several items, including a rubber glove just next to the bed.
There was a very varied breakfast menu. The food was hot and of the finest ingredients, unfortunately, mine came swimming in a pool of grease so was a bit offputting, had the meats etc been grilled it would have been perfect.
On the whole, we would recommend this one. The niggles were few and overall, offered good value for money in a very pretty little town.

We stayed for one night for a family event the next day. On booking the telephone manner of the person we spoke to was not great. However we arrived and found we had been upgraded to a better room at no extra cost. Very clean, decor a bit dated but great views and the breakfast was excellent very good quality and morning staff could not have been more helpful. Would definitely go back.
