“Shame about the weather”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 28, 2013

Stayed for 5 nights B&B in September as a break to include my wife’s birthday. Hotel was excellent. We booked an executive room with a balcony, which was on the upper floor and overlooked the garden. The room was superb, clean and bright with lovely large patio window leading out on to the balcony. Bathroom modern and spotlessly clean. Unfortunately, due to the weather the balcony was not utilised to the extent that we were hoping. I found the décor classic rather than dated with maybe one or two areas in need of a freshen up. I’ll list the down side first. Firstly on approaching reception, (the reception being empty) the receptionist carried on filing paperwork rather than attending to the paying guests, telling us she would be with us shortly. Surely as paying guests we are more important than filing and the first point of contact for the guests. Secondly although the leisure facilities were good the male changing rooms were in need of a makeover with none of the lockers lockable. On two occasions during our stay the Jacuzzi was cold and on both occasions we were told it had been repaired earlier in the day. On the plus side the restaurant is superb. Unlike other reviewers I prefer table service to buffet breakfast. An interesting and varied breakfast menu with something for all tastes. Although we booked B&B we ate at the hotel on 3 evenings on the £20 deal. I have to say that the food was worthy of a 4 star hotel and for the price I don’t think we could have done better in the town. The bar area was nicely decorated with lovely leather sofas and chairs. The walk in to town was a little further than we were expecting but so long as you are able bodied its only 15 minutes away and well worth the visit. The return journey will take a little longer as there are a couple of steep hills. We found the rooms warm and comfortable and the wi-fi worked well. The staff were helpful and courteous and all-round I felt we got good value.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for an executive room if you like plenty of light

Have just returned from a weekend break at the Heywood Mount. We were greeted by Carol who made us feel very welcome. The room we stayed in was pleasant and clean. We dined at the restaurant both evenings because the food was so good. All the waiters were excellent, they went that extra mile to make sure we had a pleasant dining experience.Breakfast was excellent, everything was perfectly cooked from locally sourced ingredients. We would like to express our compliments to the chef. There is ample parking space and it takes about 15minutes to walk into Tenby.I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, the standard of food and service was very good.

My family and I stayed for 3 nights last week; my 2nd visit to the Heywood Mount. Everything about this hotel is fantastic and of high quality - excellent value in every way.

On both occasions we stayed in the family room on the ground floor which is spacious, clean and very comfortable indeed. The staff are excellent and work tirelessly to ensure you enjoy your stay. My young children absolutely love the hotel, pool and hot-tub and were welcomed by everyone even at busy breakfast time when they find difficulty keeping their food on their plate!

The waiting/bar staff are lovely - they are very accommodating and professional. The food served at the Heywood Mount is on par with any reputable restaurant I have experienced and so I highly recommend the restaurant for evening meal. Breakfast is equally delicious - best poached eggs I have tasted! There is huge variety with quality ingredients.

I do not hesitate in recommending this hotel whatsoever as it seems to successfully meet the needs of all ages, groups, couples and solo travellers! I cannot wait to return (again!!). x

Room Tip: The family room (205 I think) on the ground floor accomodates a family of 4 fantastically!

Our stay at Heywood Mount was fantastic - so much so we are extended our stay whilst there. Just 10 minutes from Tenby town centre it is in the perfect location and is truly beautiful to stay in. The customer service we received whilst there was second to none. The hotels receptionist – Carole – went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed ourselves. Due to the hotel forgetting to put the champagne and chocolates in our room, that my boyfriend had ordered as a surprise, we were swiftly upgraded to an incredible suite (St Davids – definitely recommend it! Beautiful four poster bed, Jacuzzi bath, tv, dressing table and lovely oak wood furniture). This generous gesture really helped make our weekend, and the amazing customer service did not stop there – room service was prompt (and delicious!), complimentary warm towels when visiting the spa was a lovely touch, and booking a table for dinner was so easy and suited towards the guest (both with regards to the sitting time and the price) – which is not always the case. Furthermore the cleanliness and hygiene of the hotel was to a very high standard, the parking was extremely accessible and the relaxed checking out attitude was very impressive.

The only downside to the weekend was the service from one of the waiters at the restaurant. Unfortunately his attitude made us uncomfortable and feel as though he did not want our custom, moreover we always felt a bit rushed. The evening food was to an excellent standard, the three course meal for £20 pp was very enjoyable and of high quality. We were slightly disappointed at breakfast with one of the meals, however there was a wedding at the venue the evening before so breakfast was busy, it was just a shame the quality was compromised.

Overall however we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to book again very soon. 100% recommend the hotel to all, and would say our stay was 99% perfect – the only limitations being the poor service from the waiter and the hiccup at breakfast.

Room Tip: St Davids suite - very very nice!

Me and my boyfriend have returned today from a weekend staying here as pat of valentines gift to each other. We booked via booking.com for a classic double room. Upon arrival we were met by Lindsay who was very professional and very lovely, we were advised where our room was and able to go there straight away. Well when we opened the door we realised we had been upgraded twice to the four poster bed and jacuzzi bath room which was a fantastic surprise. We were also advised that there was a valentines special meal which consisted of five courses for twenty pound each... bargain!
The staff in the restaurant were fantastic and the food was out of this world for both dinner and breakfast.
We extended our stay while we were there and are already planning a returning visit...
Thank you for an amazing experience

We stayed on the weekend of 9/10 Feb. The hotel was superb. Carol is a gem. The facilities are top class. The owners even drove 8 of us into Tenby each morning. You don't get this level of service in many places. I can confirm that Carol's first Aid skills are very good. Can't fault anything about the hotel really.
