My husband and I stayed at Elm Grove for a birthday weekend in September. What a gem - it's marked as a 3* but the friendly service, rooms and atmosphere deserve far more. The hotel is still family run (for the last 40 yrs or so) so there is a lovely friendly, relaxed feel to the place. The breakfast we had each morning set us up for the rest of the day with the full breakfast being cooked to order and not put on a hot buffet as with more and more hotels these days. The choice of food for dinner was not extensive but it was excellent and very substantial.

The hotel is surrounded by large lawns, orchards and fields with a drive leading down to the village, which has 2 pubs, a lovely church and a well stocked village shop. Tenby and other fabulous beaches are around 4 miles away, which is great if you want to escape the traffic in tenby.
The hotel also has self catering cottages and although we didn't stay in them we did have a sneak peak when they were cleaning them and they are huge, with new kitchens and large rooms.

I would have no hesitation in going back to Elm Grove or recommending it to friends.

Stayed here for two nights due to a family wedding in Tenby. The pretty drive leading upto the house looks fairly impressive but once inside I was disappointed. We had a family room to sleep four. The decor is very 'chintzy' and nothing special but I have to say everywhere was very clean and tidy and presented well. The bed was very hard with flat pillows and the bunk beds were very uncomfortable for my children aged 10 and 13yrs.( he suffered with a bad ache the following morning). It's been along time since I slept with a sheet and a blanket. I felt the bathroom was in need of an up grade but clean all the same.
The breakfast was good and ample. I feel this hotel has such potential and it could be made fantasitc instead of just acceptable. Lots to do in the grounds for the kids - table tennis and pool table in the games room an in the grounds there is a tennis court, croquet lawn and pleasant gardens to stretch your legs in.
We actually saved money by contacting the owners directly and they were very helpful.

The Elmgrove Guest House was a fantastic experience. This beautiful country house is well managed with friendly staff and attentive service.
It is what being in a guest house is all about....warm and friendly and a 'home from home'. It beats the 'anonymity' of a large hotel.
Set in 21 acres of beautiful gardens, all rooms in this Victorian guest house (or country hotel - if you prefer) are en-suite. The traditional breakfast was superb.
Highly recommended!
