What a day, my son's 8th birthday treat a "Zoo Keeper" for the day at Manor House Wildlife Park, Tenby and it was "the best day of his life" - those were his words . We booked everything online after one telephone call to confirm details and it was just £60 for him to have the experience of a lifetime. We were extremely lucky to have a beautiful November crisp day and an empty zoo when we arrived and were greated by Zoo Keeper James who was brilliant. My son Daniel was taken off to choose a t-shirt in the shop to wear with the Wildlife Park name on so he really felt part of the staff and off he went to the kitchen to prepare the meals. We were advise that we could follow Daniel around the Zoo and film whatever we wanted too and that's what we did. It was supposed to be 12-2 pm session but there was no stress or rushing, might have been as Dan was the only one there having the experience due to it being out of season. He fed all the animals and did a complete hands on with them all. He even went in the enclosure with the Tapir who was pregnant and got to smooth and cuddle her, which he adored. He fed flamingo, zebra, camels, giraffe, ostrich, emu's, wild horses, monkeys, etc etc and he loved the part where he went into the enclosure of the Lemur where as they were on his head and shoulders asking him for food. His favourite animal is the Meerkat and he even got to feed those. It was a wonderful day and we even chatted to Anna Ryder Richardson (the owner) who was eager to know if my son had enjoyed his day. We eat in the cafe which was minimal but was nice and cosy and friendly. We could not fault the day. The attention and special treatment Daniel was given as a Zoo Keeper will stay with him for a lifetime and the minute we were walking out of the gates he said "I want to do that next birthday as it was the best day of my life" - I think that says it all !!!
