“Another great break!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014 via mobile

Just wanted to leave a quick review about another great stay, this time in a gold bungalow. Clean and well presented, plenty of room for the 8 of us! Staff were friendly and helpful, my daughter really liked one of your stripeys, jess, she didn't want to leave her!
No complaints here, had a fab stay and can't wait to come back

Stayed for 4 nights and that was enough.

We stayed in a gold room which we were really disappointed with. Rooms were small and uncomfortable. Bed was very hard and sofa seemed to be falling apart. Expected something ok for a gold room and was disappointed so would hate to see what the other rooms look like. Pool was ok, old looking.
Rooms really needed a face lift. Very dated. Rooms smelt very strongly of bleach so needed to buy air feshner.

Location - close to Tesco superstore..everything else is driving distance (unless your happy to walk down to the beach, about a 20 mins walk down but about 30 back as you need to walk up a very steep hill, we walked it however was tough)

Didnt eat at the chefs corner however did eat at the indian and it was lovely

Holiday was pretty damn cheap so I guess you get what you pay for however I was pretty disappointed and wont stay again. Just because a holiday is cheap you shouldn't stand for old smelly rooms. Id recommend you look around.

Sorry john fowler to be negative just was bit disappointing.

It was such a shame to read your remarks regarding your stay at our holiday park because the gold accommodation on this park was newly built in 2010 and most reviews on those units are reflecting that fact.

I need to find out exactly where you stayed and to that end, I will be contacting you through the Tripadvisor messaging service to discover the full details of your booking.

Checked in last week, swift check in on arrival by 2 extremely helpful receptionist, perfectly clean lodge number 57, not to far to walk to the club, tescos was just a 5 minute walk up the road, the chefs corner served some beautiful dishes, the bar man matthew was very attentive, looking forward to our next break.

So the first night we got here we saw that bingo was starting and we arrived 5 minutes before it was said to start on the programme (nothing mentioning about needing to arrive early) and we asked for bingo slips but the staff were so rude and said that we should have got here earlier at least quarter too (this was obviously just a crock of rubbish they'd made up as they wanted to get on with things) and that we couldn't play. They were more interested in just getting it all done and over with as quickly as possible so they could go home earlier and not caring about upsetting their guests.

All through the week we noticed how horrible and lazy the staff were, they were not helpful and it felt like they were doing everything they could to make our stay terrible, the place was dead and I wonder why! I don't normally give bad reviews but I've never been treated so badly at a place we are paying for in my entire life! The surrounding area is rubbish for young people absolutely nothing to do :( at least i had my family with me to make it a little bit less boring!

Thankfully, poor reviews are few and far between and we have the satisfaction of knowing that last year well over 50,000 families enjoyed a John Fowler Holiday at our 14 holiday parks.

Nevertheless, occasionally we let a customer down and it is imperative that we make a full investigation into what went wrong for the benefit of future guests.

I shall be contacting you shortly and I feel sure that the matter will be settled to everyone’s satisfaction.

Well where do I start apart from the whole week was just superb from the 1st day we got there to when we left we got a free upgrade to a gold apartment which was lovely when we got there Beth was really friendly and helpful on arrival and now for the stripeys where do I start with those! Well...... There's no words that can describe how brilliant they were they were fantastic every single day they made us feel welcomed the shows that they put on was just fantastic even when they had me up there on my birthday on Sunday and then later on during the week I got involved a lot with the games and the entertainment and we all just loved it we've met some really good friends during out time down here yesterday was a sad day because we never wanted to leave the whole week was just fantastic can't fault it only one thing tho you need to advertise either the foxy club on the website so people know what to expect and what to bring down for example in Sunday you had cowboy night well nobody knew about that so we never came prepared for it it would be nice to be told or even sent something so we can prepare and bring things down for the theme night we all can't wait to come down in November

Arrived early sat morning, greeted by lovely staff. Have been going here over 10years and love it. From groundskeepers to reception staff we were made to feel very welcome. The chefs corner owner Andy is fantastic, wonderful food and great value. The Stripeys are amazing my son loves them all especially Bryan. We felt part of a big family. The park site is lovely and clean and our apartment was top class. Hated to leave.

We've just got back from here yesterday and we had a fab time. We booked via the Sun deals, so only paid £90 for a family of five for mon - fri. We've been on dozens of Sun holidays all over Devon and Cornwall - some great, some not so great! I was very apprehensive after reading the reviews, but can honestly say it was great! We did not upgrade the accommodation, and to some extent we got what we paid for, but it was clean and served it's purpose as a base. The beds were clean and fairly comfy, the kitchen was well equipped and we were lucky to have a fabulous sea view. The only downside of the accommodation was no heating, so it did feel a bit damp on arrival. Also there was a sofa bed and one chair, and a dining table and chairs, which meant that only three of us had comfy chairs, the others had to sit on hard chairs. This didn't bother us as we were out and about a lot, but older guests might find this a pain.

The entertainment was really good, the kids loved it. Kids and adults play bingo at the same time, which stops he kids getting bored and the tickets are really reasonable. The stripies are great, full if enthusiasm and great with kids. The pool is basic, but clean and was fairly empty all week even though it was half term. The changing facilities are not great, but serve a purpose, would probably be a pain if it was more crowded.

There is a tesco within easy walking distance, and the shop on site is fairly good too. In the area there is lots to do. A brilliant fudge shop in ilfracombe, fab fish and chips and some lovely tea shops. A visit to Lynton and Lynmouth nearby is a must, with it's lovely shops and cliff railway. The Combe Martin dinosaur park is brilliant and a visit to surfy Croyde is recommended.

If you've been to uk holiday parks before, then don't be put off, it's fine! If you've got a good deal like we did via the Sun, the it's worth every penny, not sure how I'd feel if we'd paid full price, but the. I don't like paying full price for anything!! If you haven't stayed at uk holiday parks and are expecting the Ritz then maybe look elsewhere! Overall, we had a great time and would happily return.

Hello Bucketandspader

Thank you very much for leaving us such a fantastic review, we really appreciate it. Your comments have been passed to all departments.

The park does not deserve poor reviews and thankfully they are few and far between. We simply do not understand why some people choose to post them, when all the staff work really hard to make everyone feel welcome, as you experienced. However, we are all individuals and we can all have vastly different opinions on the same subject.

I am delighted to hear that you had a great time. Our returning customers are very important to us and we look forward to welcoming you again very soon.
