“Great food, great hospitality”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We arrived on drizzly night in May. The warm welcome made us forget it inmediately. Super! We had a nice table near the fireplace. The starter, main dish and desert were simply great. The recommended wine was perfect with our dishes. What more can we say, we have had a great time in a great restaurant.

A very reliable taxi driver is Mark (Grab a Cab, Phone: 01271 867 094). Ask for him. He is great!

“A true gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2013

We booked to eat at Relish after reading the reviews on here and I'm so glad we did! We booked by email and this was replied to very quickly and the whole process was very efficient. As we were only in Ilfracombe for 2 nights it was very important to find a good restaurant and boy did we!

Relish is tucked away in a pretty little street behind the promenade and really stands out with it's clean cream paintwork. Inside you can tell it's origins of a converted cottage.....beams, slate floors and exposed brickwork all add to its character. We were greeted by the very friendly and enthusiastic Kate who showed the 6 of us to our table straight away. Drinks were ordered fairly swiftly.....water was brought without being asked for which made a nice change. I can definitely recommend the Prosecco....it was delicious.

We took a while to order food because everything sounded so delicious and it was difficult to choose but we never felt hurried or under pressure to choose. In the end we had 2 sharing platters (antipasti and fish) and spicy chicken wings. The fish sharer in particular was spectacular.....the crab pate was divine! Main courses were equally tasty....the rib eye steaks were succulent and tender, and the very plump sea bass cooked to perfection with crispy skin. The dressed crab was declared 'amazing' by my daughter who had never eaten crab before. The homemade burger and chicken with leek, mustard and white wine were very tasty too. We were all pretty full after the main course but of course you have to have a pudding.....creme brulee, citron tart and chocolate brownie mess were all delicious. All dishes were presented beautifully and imaginatively which always adds a little something I think.

Pricing was very reasonable for the standard and quality of the food. The restaurant atmosphere was very relaxed, serving staff although young were very good and efficient. Everywhere was spotlessly clean (including loos).

I would definitely eat here again.....it's so rare to find a place to eat with so many good qualities. Thank you to everyone who made it such a great experience.

“Great food and lovely atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2013

We decided to meet with friends at this lovely little restaurant in Ilfracombe.

Great food with some tasty wine was served by a young and helpful staff. Only slight disappointment was that the Sea Bass had sold out and the wine of the day had also sold out, however the replacement was just as good. Fresh Crab was amazing, Steak was tasty and the Pizza was generous and freshly made.

The owner is a very knowledgeable Kiwi, she was enthusiastic about the food in her restaurant and knowledgable.

We arrived at about 7.30 on a Sunday evening and were the last team standing come 9 pm, which was a bit unusual, but it was just outside the main holiday season, so understandable. Great location in an historic street surrounded by other lovely buildings.

The Decor was pleasant and comfortable. I would recommend this restaurant and would eat here again.
